We have received about 137,000 coupons so far this year, which is double from last year. These coupons really help our military families overseas so please keep them coming. Thank you to everyone who have been cutting and donating them. If you have coupons in the mail or from the Tribune you can bring them to the Post for Bobbie Sellend. She has offered to cut them fo rus. Just don't swamp her with them, please.
JANUARY 2009
We have collected about 55,000 coupons so far this year for military famlies overseas. Coupons will be accepted for three months after the eexpiration date.
The people at the USO at SeaTac airport were really happy to receive the 45 children's backpacks that I delivered on December 9. They gave me a tour of the facility too. Thank you for the donations that made this possible.
Remember when you update your cell phones to donate the old ones to our phone card project.
DECEMBER 2008
We were together 45 backpacks for the USO project: 15 each for ages NB to 6. This will help military families traveling through Sea-Tac. Out thanks for the donations to complete this task.
There will be other projects to help our military families in the future so watch the newsletter for more information.
Our coupons for troops peoject has been very successful this years thanks to all the people who are taking the time to cut and donate them. To date we have received 74,000 coupons.
NOVEMBER 2008-MONIKA HAMMON
Thanks to all who have donated coupons for our project. We received over 19,000 in the month of September. Please keep them coming.
Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets for the "Gallery of Stars" raffle that was held on October 10. We raised $62 for the project.
SEPTEMBER 2008-MONIKA HAMMON
Time for the VFW Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen contests. Deadline for entries is Nov. 1st. If you have family in high school or jr. high they could win scholarship money for college. Contact me for entry forms or pick them up at the Post Home. The Post winner of the VOD will receive $1000 to the college of their choice.
To date the coupons collected total 29,442. Thank you all for your dedication. Keep 'em coming.
AUGUST 2008-MONIKA HAMMON
There were 2784 coupons donated in June and a total of 10,549 were sent. Keep those coupons coming!
I held a Patriotic Art contest at the Kid's Picnic. IT was a resounding success. We had some great coloring done by children ages 2 to 12. There were 4 age groups for judging. First, Second and Third place were all awarded ribbons.
JULY 2008-MONIKA HAMMON
Yes, I have decided to continue to chair this committee and would appreciate your continued support for our projects.
Shopping for the care packages for the 4/6 Air Cav. troops was exhausting but felt good too. With help we boxed up and sent 67 care packages to the troops and some to National Headquarters for female troops also.
We did a great job collecting coupons for the month. There were 10.549 coupons collected. Let me remind you to please put them in a secure envelope or baggy and please put the amount inside on it.
We will be continuing the "Cell Phone" project also and have just shipped 5 more phones to the project. |
