| MARCH 2009 The March 17 meeting has been canceled due to the St. Patrick's Day dinner the Ladies Auxiliary is having that night. Thank you to everyone who attends events such as the meat and liquor raffle on Friday nights, the free bingo on Wednesday and the Sunday Morning breakfasts. I see a great many "regulars" but would love to see some of our newer members come also. We would like to get to know you. Our older members need to come down and get reacquainted also. So put it down on your busy schedule and we will see you soon. FEBRUARY 2009 It is nice to see so many of you at our Sunday breakfast. Please remember the people who cook and serve you on Sunday monday are volunteering their services. I would love to see more of you come and volunteer. Serving is a great way to meet people and make new friends. Most of you have heard the news that Orting got a lot of flood damage that includes our Rec. Park. There will be a lot of work to be done sometime in March. We'll need help. This has always been a wonderful place to bring your family and enjoy the events we put on there. JANUARY 2009 The Post Birthday party was a great success. We had a wonderful turn out. Everyone who attended received a fantastic memorial coin created just for the occasion. We had many State VFW and Auxiliary members attend. The post was honored to have Past National Ladies Auxiliary President, Virginia Carmen, attending the party. Also joining us were District 3 Commander and President. Members of our adopted unit were at the party with our Auxiliary member Janet Chappel and they presented the Post with a beautiful memorial pictures from their unit. Please welcome them home and to the Post when you meet them there. As Service Officer: Thanks for all the donations for our Holiday Baskets. We put together some really great ones for our needy families. Our family hopes you all had good holidays and we look forward to working with you in 2009. DECEMBER 2008 The Post 75th Birthday part will be held after the newsletter is published so the highlights will be in the January newsletter. The Children's Halloween Party will be held on October 25 from 2-4pm. There will be costume contests, games, and food. We look forward to seeing you all there! SEPTEMBER 2008 Another great Steak-Out weekend had come and gone. I want to thank the "usual suspects" Gerry R., Gary G., Rick S., Glen B., Tracy M., and all the others for their hard work cooking over the weekend. The Ladies Auxiliary worked hard getting everything ready; collecting money, and making sure the orders were right. The Rec. Park residents who helped with cleaning everything up afterwards were MORE than appreciated!!. Sixteen residents from the Soldier's Home were served and 3 attendants. THey said they enjoyed it very much. On Aug. 9, my family, the Grants, Dale Iannello and Mirabel, attended the "wlecome home" for 110 4/6 Air Cav members returning form Iraq. We brought muffins and sodas for the families to enhjoy while they waited. How terrific to see them safely home. AUGUST 2008 Congratulations to Krist Huseby for being elected Department Surgeon. The annual Luau was a success. Every one had a great time. I want to thank everyone who helped a success; expecially Rex, Gary, Jerry, Ric, Levi, Phil and Bob Thackery for all their hard work. A special tanks also goes to the Ladies Auxiliary for their aid and their great salads. The post is now open for breakfast on Sunday mornings.
