NATIONAL
OFFICERS VISIT PUERTO RICO,
re-establishing
VFW commitment to
Puerto
Rican Veterans
From
8-11 May 2006, representatives from VFW National Headquarters visited Puerto
Rico and reestablished the foundation for VFW
support to Puerto Rican Veterans. Puerto Rico has over 80,000 Veterans who
served honorably in all wars. Senior Vice Cdr, Gary Kurpius,
Jr Vice George Lisicki, and Adjutant General Allen
¨Gunner¨ Kent, along with Cdr Tom Lord and Jr Vice Jose Claudio of the Dept of
Latin America/Caribbean visited with Veterans, key Veterans Administration
Officials, and retired military leaders to help build the VFW in Puerto Rico.
The three day visit which produced results and allowed for the
reestablishment of the Carolina
Post, 10523 in Puerto
Rico.
National Representatives met with MG Santoni, USA
Retired and Brig Gen Maldonado, USAF Retired to discuss the opportunity to
rebuild the VFW on the island. Currently, the recruitment and establishment of
a major Post in San Juan is on going.
