National museum of Bellas Artes. Palace of Beautiful Arts. Trocadero, between Zulueta and Monserrate. There are two headquarters of this museum , one dedicated to international art and another one to cuban art. A magnificent collection of painting, sculpture, classical antiquities are shown in there. The new cuban art collection stands out the top of our national patrimony. You can see there paintings of famous artist as Rene Portocarrero, Amelia Pelaez, Miguel Enriquez, among others. |

La Catedral Is located in the square that carries the same name. It was the ancient church of San Ignacio. It´s a typical building of the jesuita style and whose construction owes distinct architects. Its facade is of baroque style, decorated with great columns. It is flanked by two non symmetrical towers (the left one is smaller). To the year 1898, the body of Christopher Columbus rested in this cathedral, date in which its remainders were transferred to the cathedral of Sevilla. It is dedicated to San Cristóbal protector of Havana. |
El Capitolio Located in the center of Old Havana It is the headquarter of the Academy of Sciences and stands out due to the great dome that provides accommodation to the largest under roof statue of the world (the dome is a replication of the Basílica of San Pedro one, in Rome). There is a similar building in United States which differs from it just in a few metters. |
La Bodeguita del Medio One of the most famous restaurants of Cuba, and that already forms part of its tradition.It is well known by the great number of illustrious names that have been here as the north american writer Ernest Hemingway, but this place stands out above all tihngs because of its simple style and by the Mojito, a popular cuban coctail that is served in the place. On it's roofs and walls are stamped signatures and dedications of every person that has visited the place. |
El Patio It´s a very pleasant restaurant located in the interior of the House of the Clear Water Marqués, adjacent with the Cathedral. In order to take a rest after a long walking on our warm streets, you can get there, it is always ready to receive a visitor. The restaurant have an entrance that invites to know its interior. It is one of the most beautiful buildings of the old zone, built in the middle of the XVIII century, stands out due to its splendid central yard, by its beatiful and traditional decoration based on colored glass windows. |

El Malecón . It´s the boundary between the sea and the city, it has an extension of various kilometers, is one of the dearest places by the inhabitants of Havana. Couples that seek the shadows, students having friendly conversations, tradicional musicians, old fishermen, they all gather and pass time of enormous fun. Every point of its total extension has a very pleasant view. |

El Cristo de la Habana Immense art work born from the hands of Jilma Wood in 1958. With this work the artist won a contest to provide monuments to the city . It has 20 meters of height and 320 tons of weight, the Christ is considered the largest sculpture of the world carried out by the hands of a woman. In words of its creator: "It´s a Christ with an expression in its eyes different to the one we are use to". Its sixty pieces were carved in white marble or of carrara.The monument is located in a hill of considerable height to the left of the entrance of havana bay, at sight of all as blessing the city. |
