10 Things I Hate About You
Phew! Okay! So...Katarina is anti-social and hates guys. Her sister is a pretty, pretty princess who loves boys! Their father, seeing this, changes the rule "If Kat dates Bianca can date!" The word of this gets out. Cameron devises a plan...he needs to get someone who isn't afraid of Kat to date her. Who else than the school's bad boy, Patrick, who's reputation precedes him. Since Patrick won't give him the time of day he is forced to turn to Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan), the school's playboy (and model), who already has a bet going on that he's going to "nail" Bianca by prom! Joey is rich to boot and he uses his money to pay Patrick to ask her out.
After much stalking Patrick finally wins Kat over and they go out on a date! Which means Bianca can finally date. Sucks for Cameron that she picks Joey was her real first choice. Oh well! She'll soon learn that Joey is a little too shallow for her (because she's so deep of course...since she "likes" her sketchers but "loves" her prada backpack...so there has to be a difference between love and like, right?). Of course Kat finds out about the bet (as does Bianca), will love prevail?

A retelling of "Taming the Shrew" for tweens (one of many to come out around this time) finds us in suburbia following the lives of Katarina (Julia Stiles) and Bianca Stratford (Larisa Olaynick [y'know! From the Adventures of Alex Mac!]) two sisters who aren't allowed to date till they graduate high school, Cameron (Joseph Gordon Levitt) a boy who just transferred to the school and is in love with Bianca at first sight, and Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) who gets pulled into a bet involving the sisters.
"People perceive you as somewhat as a henious bitch. You should try to work on that! Okay?" ~Ms. Perky about Kat.
Julia Stiles is sooooo freakishly skinny in this movie. She looks sick! It bothered me...
Bianca's prom dress was soooooooooo ugly! Oh my god! For being so trendy and all I can't believe she even left the house in that...heh...anyway
For the record, highschool really isn't that defined and black and white like they are in these kind of movies. I dunno, just a thought.
10 Things I Hate About You is a modernized version of the Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew. I haven’t seen/read it so I can’t tell you if this has any resemblance (except that there is a pretty girl with a bad attitude towards men/life in general). This is a pretty good movie. It’s rather formulatic and you see the ending coming 100 miles away…but there’s something sickeningly sweet about it. It’s a good movie to just sit back and remember how high school was nothing like that…but you can dream. It’s cutesy and has a pretty good soundtrack (only ‘cause Kat like punk-y bands, heh). Anyway, it’s very enjoyable and a perfect way to kill a few hours on a rainy day. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
