[BACK]
[DVD Info]
This is a documentary about Mark Borchardt, a filmmaker from Winsconsin trying to make his big break with his movie "Northwestern" but due to financial reasons he can only finish up a movie he started 7 years ago called "Coven." This documents his struggles and passion with making movies and life.
"Is that what you want to do with your life man? Sucking down peppermint shnapps and calling Morroco in the middle of the night?!" ~Mark.
None really...
This documentary was really sad. No one believed in this guy (especially not his family) and he was working so hard to complete his dream. It was interesting to watch how much work goes into independent film making. The best character (I guess you can't call them characters 'cause they're real people...) was Mark's friend Mike Schank. He was a cross between Silent Bob and Troy from Comicopolis (someone I know). He said the funniest things because he was so messed up from all the drugs he did. The actual movie "Coven" was pretty interesting. I was too tired to get through the whole thing so I need to finish watching it (maybe I'll do a review). It's a good movie but it is rather heartbreaking...even at the end. It almost leaves you with the feeling of hopelessness. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
