[DVD Info]

Nick (Alessandro Nivola) is back in his home town taking care of things for his dad’s funeral. While he’s expecting to inherit his dad’s insurance money, it turns out that his dad had an existing heart condition, that he knew about…which makes his insurance plan void…leaving Nick with nothing. While trying to sort things out, he meets up with an old friend from college, Bryce (Josh Brolin), for drinks. Later that night he gets a frantic call from Bryce, asking him to come over to the house that he’s house sitting. When Nick arrives Bryce explains hysterically that he met a girl at the bar named Lissa (Reese Witherspoon) and they got really drunk and she came over to the house and they had sex…but when they were done she said that he raped her and she was going to call the police. Now his whole life is ruined. Nick tells him to forget about it…she’s already gone. Bryce corrects him. Actually she’s not. He handcuffed her in the basement…He WON'T let her ruin his life. No matter what it takes.

Drug dealers know a lot about economics.

"They won't call the poice Bryce...they're car thieves." ~Nick.

Meh...

First of all…don’t read the back of the box before you watch this movie…it totally gives away the storyline…so when the “plot twist” comes in…it’s not really a plot twist ‘cause you know what’s going to happen. Next, the story itself is really weak. I found the character’s actions totally unbelievable. Why and how they got into the situations were stupid and how they got out of them was ridiculous. No one does that. And finally…the ending was very anti-climatic. After all this incredulous stuff that happens the end finally comes and you’re like… ‘wow…that was pointless.’ The ending was a surprise…but in more of an ‘oh, okay’ kinda way. But, by then you’ll just be wishing for the movie to be over. I love, love Reese Witherspoon. She’s the reason I picked up this movie in the first place…but even she couldn’t save this movie. Every minute that goes on (once the main plot is established) the movie get more and more ridiculous. You can’t relate to the characters in any way because there’s no way any halfway smart human being can get into this type of situation. I felt super sorry for Reese Witherspoon’s character. She was screwed over royally and…well…I can’t explain it without ruining the movie. Oh well…this was, overall, a big disappointment. If you’re a big Reese fan, skip it… She’s been in much better movies. Also, the tagline...has nothing to with the movie. That always cracks me up. Oh yeah...and one more piece of advice...don't watch this movie with your mother. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
