Our children have become little monsters

Bowling for Columbine
[DVD Info]

This is a documentary by the very liberal Michael Moore (known for: "Roger and Me" and "Dude, Where's my Country") about America's facination with guns. He covers things from Columbine and Flint shootings to the Michigan militia. He interviews Charleton Heston, Dick Clark (tries to), and Marilyn Manson about their thoughts on America's violent tendecies. He even goes to Canada to see why they only have 73 (I think) shootings a year and why America has 11,000 (and is amazed to see that they don't even lock their doors). Why *is* America the most violent country? A question that isn't a black and white answer, and probably can never be truly answered.

My first question is...is it really that smart to give out guns at a bank? ~Michael Moore.

It's annoying how people really bash this movie about it being one sided. Of course it is! You don't just believe everything you hear...he speaks the truth but it's not the ABSOLUTE truth. Yeesh.

This film was very imformative. Again, Michael Moore is very liberal and has very liberal thoughts on the government (so if you don't like that...I'd steer clear of this movie), so take it at face value. He doesn't seem to pose any solution to gun violence but merely shows that it's getting out of control. His thoughts struck me as more vaild just because he is a lifetime member of the NRA. Something that amused me the most about this documentary is that I am originally from Santa Cruz, CA (a *very* liberal town) and I now live in Michigan (in fact...there's an island a couple miles off the town I live in that houses a good portion of the Michigan Militia) and I found this film to ring true to the things he said about Michigan (being an outsider and all). They are very gun loving an obsessed and I can see why a lot of messed up people come out of societies like that. Also, through this film I now have a lot of respect for Marilyn Manson...he is actually very intelligent and has a lot of interesting things to say. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
