A whole lotta woman!

Bridget Jones's Diary
[DVD Info]

After being humiliated by Mark (Colin Firth) at a Christmas party, Bridget Jones (Renee Zellwegger) decides she needs to take control of her life (as she doesn't want to spend another New Years Eve alone signing to Celine Dion and drinking herself silly). She starts a diary that keeps track of her weight, how much alcohol and cigarettes she's consuming, and her personal feelings. She will no longer fall for men who are womanizers, boozers, partiers, and/or perverts. Problem number one? Her hot boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) is all of those and he's been flirting shamelessly with her (sending her dirty emails about her clothes). The story follows her through her ups and down and lefts and rights as she tries to go through life without becoming a spinster. Lucky for her, love comes in mysterious ways.

"Great. I was wearing a carpet." ~Bridget.

Rrrahhg! I don't like men. They're such jerkfaces. Can't explain...see the movie!

Based on the book of the same name... "Bridget Jones's Diary" is a great movie that peaks into the life of a woman who isn't thin or perfect...she obsesses over her weight and how she appears in public. She's not a great public speaker nor is she very articulate. She's not particularly graceful either...but she does have a beautiful heart. She's caring and loving and wants someone to give that love to. That's what makes this story work so well. If this were a movie about a super model's quest for true love then no one could relate to it...except the 5% of the world that are super models. You just feel for Bridget so much because you know you've been there too. It's a really enjoyable film! I loved watching her have two men fight over her...something every woman wants! Reene Zellwegger does an awesome job and I found her British accent believable. Definately a great flick that hits all the right places and makes you feel good about being a woman! A must watch! Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
