Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star
[DVD Info]

Starting with the opening of “VH1’s Behind the Music” we meet Dickie Roberts (David Spade), once a popular child actor (whose catch phrase was “That’s nucking futs!”) but now he is washed up and practically unknown. With help of a few popular actors, he gets a meeting with a famous director who tells him he’d give him the part but he doesn’t know how to act because he never grew up properly. Then, Dickie gets an idea. He’ll just hire a family for a month and have them teach him what it’s like to have a childhood. But will it really work…especially when 95% of the family thinks he’s a creep?

It only takes a month to reverse 30 years of damage.
No one gives second thoughts about a creepy old man they've never met before sleeping with their two children at night.
Dead rabbits are the sign of the devil.

"Big houses make me horny." ~Stewardess.

Nah...not really.

I was honestly surprised by this movie. David Spade really hasn’t been doing it for me lately but this was a fairly good movie. If you ignore the whole part where all his problems are solved after knowing this family for a month and he falls in love with the woman who he calls “mommy” for most of the film…then it’s a good wholesome family movie with a few fart jokes thrown in for good measure. What did it mostly for me were the cameos by child actors. My favorite being (of course) Corey Feldman (hehehe) and a little love for Leif Garret…and a little for Screech too…hehe. Anyway, this is a good movie if you are hanging out with some kids and need a movie that is both, appropriate, and you’ll both like. The best part was the gay guy who was always hot. Hehe. I don’t think David Spade will be recovering his lost spark anytime soon…but this’ll do for now. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
