Jawbreaker
[DVD Info]

After a birthday prank goes wrong, one of the “Flawless Four”, Liz (Charlotte Ayanna) who “ruled with kindness” and was loved by all dies by choking on a jawbreaker. Her three friends Courtney (Rose McGowan) “the bitch in heels”, Marcie (Julie Benz)Courtney’s lap dog, and Julie (Rebeccca Gayheart) “the good girl”, try to cover up the murder by making it look like she was raped but when they’re placing the body Fern (Judy Greer), a nerdy school girl with an obsession with Liz, sees them. Courtney tells her that in return for her silence she’ll make Fern one of the “Flawless Four” and take Liz’s place. After a makeover and a name change to Vylette she quickly becomes more popular than any of the other girls ever were. Julie refuses to go along like nothing happened and she is blackballed from the group. She starts a new life and finds love but she’s still uneasy with Liz’s death. With a detective snooping around and “Vylette” abusing her power, things are threatening to crash down. Will they get caught?

Killing your best friend really doesn't effect you emotionally.
You can park right in front of the school and blast you music and the principal doesn't care.
When someone is murdered, they don't use forensics to catch the killer...they take the word of a highschooler.

"You can't hide the truth with a makeover!" ~Julie.

The cartoon-y sound effects were so lame... Stupid. ~_~

Wow! So much of this movie didn't work!! I explain...

This movie…is a bad movie. In fact…it’s a terrible movie…I could honestly say…that I don’t like this movie…but for some reason…I watch it all the time. It’s kind of like a car wreck on the side of the freeway. You don’t really want to look at it because it’s a terrible thing to rubberneck but you can’t help yourself. I guess I’ll start with the whole fact that this movie is so unrealistic. It’s not just unrealistic in a movie way…it’s like, this could never, ever happen to anyone…ever! They shouldn’t even put that little disclaimer on it that says “if this happened to you…we didn’t steal your story…it’s a coincidence.” If you stuck a jawbreaker in someone’s mouth like that it’s far too big to get stuck in your throat. Yes, you can choke on it…but it wouldn’t be a giant lump in the base of your throat. Also, if the police did a simple forensics test…they’d come up with all three girls as the murderers….and it’s not like her parents weren’t rich and couldn’t influence people to get it done. And I like (and by “I like” I’m being sarcastic) how Fern just changes her name and starts going to school as “Vylette” and no one questions where Fern is, or why Vylette doesn’t have a last name or is registered on the school roster. These teens seem to have complete control of the school…to the point where there’s a body laying in the corridor of the school and no one takes the body to the nurse…or even cares? That’s just a start on the many number of things that was wrong with this movie. I figure, movies don’t have to be realistic by any means…but if you’re going to do a teen drama or whatever…at least make it plausible (do you know anyone that kidnaps their friends on their birthday? Maybe I was never popular enough to be in THAT crowd). But despite all its faults…I can’t help but like it. Once a year I gotta have my fix of the ugly/pretty girls with their horrid clothes, killing their best friend. Ahhh. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
