Last Stop, The
[BACK]
[DVD Info]
At the Last Stop Café in Clearlake Colorado, at the end of the road, Jason (Adam Beach), a state trooper stops in to inform the people who are stopped there that the roads have been closed due to heavy snow and the plow will be up in the morning. Everyone is upset that they are trapped there for the night since they all have somewhere to be. Jake (Callum Keith Rennie) and Roy (Peter Flemming) are two obnoxious brothers who are racist and always start trouble with everyone, especially with Tim (William Taylor) who is a black trucker with a crime record. Nancy (Rose McGowan) is a girl who was originally from Clearlake and once dated Jason. She’s back visiting her sister but is heading back to her home in L.A. Carl (Winston Rekhert) and Jodie (Amy Anderson) are a couple who’s only known each other for three days.
While cleaning, Fritz (Jürgen Prochnow), the owner, goes into an empty room he sees blood all over the place and a wolf. The wolf takes off and Fritz and Jason find that someone has been murdered and it was done that day…which means the murderer is still in the hotel. Later, along with a few more bodies they find a huge bag a money and the murderer isn’t about to let them have it. Will they find out who it is before it’s too late?
"Whoa-ing" your car like a horse will get it back under control.
One week rules are meant to be broken.
Walls that are so thin you can hear talking through are impossible to hear yelling through.
Walk, don't run if it looks like a room's on fire.
"That sounded like a challenge to me..." ~Carl.
Mmm...nothing really...
This wasn’t a bad movie…but it wasn’t that good either...it sort of crossed over into mediocre. This was supposed to be a murder mystery/thriller but came off as predictable and, well…boring. Most of the characters were annoying and didn’t evolve in any way. I wanted those obnoxious brothers to die so bad. Everyone was so unlikable and you couldn't feel for any of them...it didn't matter if they lived or died. It was so formulistic that you knew how it was going to end pretty early in the movie and it makes you lose interest pretty fast. You're pretty much just timing to see how long it takes for this cookie cutter character to die or when the killer is going to reveal themselves. They tried to be different but the end result wasn't. If you've seen a murder mystery taking place in a secluded hotel then you've seen this one. Oh well...nice try. Rose McGowan…I want to like your movies so bad! So far, I’ve only liked one of her movies. This was decent…and an okay way to kill a few hours. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
(Disappointed)
