Gene Watson (Johnny Depp) and his daughter (Courtney Chase) get off the train after attending a funeral (for his wife). They are approached by two police officers demanding that they come with them. They are placed in a black van they give the little girl crayons and headphones. The two people turn out not to be police officers but people who have kidnapped him and his daughter. One of the kidnappers, Mr. Smith (Christopher Walken), gives him an ultimatum. It's 12:15...kill the woman who's picture is in the envelope by 1:30 or they will kill his daughter. Having no other choice he heads to the hotel indicated by his kidnappers only to discover that the woman he's supposed to kill is the governor of California! Will he do it for his daughter?

This doesn't have to do with the movie, but don't you think that Christopher Walken looks evil? I like him (and he's a great actor...does a lot of cameos like Steve Buscemi)...but he's creepy looking...

This movie was really suspenseful. You don't know what's going on until the movie decides to reveal it to you. This is really rare in movies. Most of the time you know pretty much what's going to happen. Of course you KNOW he's going to save his daughter (and to quote my husband "Unless it's 'Se7en'") but you just aren't sure how to do it! This movie was awesome like that and there was a little comic relief from Huey (Charles Dutton). Christopher Walken is awesome as always. He’s so quirky. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
