Nightmare on Elm Street 6:
[BACK]
Freddy's Dead - The Final Nightmare
[DVD Info]
At a shelter for troubled teens, there’s a psychologist who does dream therapy on the kids. He believes that he can reach them through their dreams. The cops pick up, what seems to be a junkie, and take him to the shelter. He has amnesia and says he can’t go to sleep or something will get him. We also meet 3 other troubles teens, Carlos (Ricky Dean Logan) a boy who’s mom made him mostly deaf by cleaning out his ears with a q-tip, Tracy (Lezlie Deane) an angry girl who’s father (step father possibly?) molested her, and Spencer (Breckin Meyer…hahah…from Rat Race!) a stoner troublemaker with a rich father. John Doe’s [the guy with amnesia] (Shon Greenblatt) psychologist, Maggie (Lisa Zane), decides that she should take him back to Springwood to see if she can jog his memory (she found an article on him mentioning the town). When they get there (after discovering the three troubled teen stowaways) they find that there are no children in the entire town and all the adults seem rather out of it. A lot of them talking to themselves and ranting an raving about Krueger (Robert Englund) and other weird things. Maggie told the three stowaways to head back home but no matter where they go they end up on the same street. They decide to find an abandoned house to stay in for the night (which just so happens to be Nancy’s house). One by one they start to die off but the ones that survive manage to get back home (but not without learning the Freddy had a child and bringing Freddy with them). Who is Freddy’s kid and why does he want to come into contact with them? Will they be able to survive Freddy’s wrath?
"Hey Spence...let's trip out!" ~Freddy Krueger.
ARrrruuughhhhhhhh!
I honestly didn’t think that the Nightmare on Elm Street series could hit any lower than Dream Master with the bad acting and almost non existent plotline…but it got worse. A LOT worse. This movie was so bad that I found myself suddenly bursting into fits of laughter. No, it wasn’t so bad that it was funny…I think I was loosing my mind. It was like the writers said, “Y’know…this is the last Freddy movie we’re gonna make…should we make the fear stay alive…or should we ruin all we’ve tried to achieve?” The answer, my dear friends? They ruined it so bad that my memory of the first three movies that I enjoyed so much couldn’t be taken seriously. It was pretty much a parody of the Krueger films. It was very animated and silly…the production company probably would have saved money if they had just made it into a cartoon…at least they could have achieved what they were going for. They did throw in a few little factoids of why Krueger turned out like he did and they even had some amusing cameos (Rosanne, Tom Arnold, Johnny Depp, and Alice Cooper) but nothing could have saved this movie (no…not even the crappy 3-D ending)…even if after the movie was over and the DVD player started spouting hundreds of dollars I wouldn’t watch it again. And the worst part? Despite the title…there’s another Freddy movie…and it puts fear into me like no other. This takes the cake as the worst movie I’ve ever seen. It’s worse than Wishmaster 2. Please…steer clear of this movie…unless you want to know what it feels like to have your brain turn inside out and turn you temporarily insane. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
(Like I had died and gone to hell...where they play this movie over, and over, and over...)
