Samurai Fiction: Episode One
[DVD Info]

Three centuries ago samurai ruled the world. Heishiro Inukai (Hanbei Mizoguchi) is a noble samurai and the son of a loyal retainer. When the royal sword is stolen by a ronin named Rannosuke Kazamatsuri (Tomoyasu Hotei). Heishiro decides to go kill Kazamatsuri and bring back the sword. While he's leaving...he is joined by his two friends (he says that the town calls them the three stooges). When they encounter Kazamatsuri one of his friends is killed and the other wounded. A samurai named Hanbei Mizoguchi (Morio Kazama) stops Kazamatsuri from killing Heishiro and takes him back to his home where his daughter Koharu (Tamaki Ogawa) nurses him back to health. Will Heishiro ever be able to revenge his friend's death? Or will he be killed as well...

"I was so ashamed...those were the hardest days of that life." ~Heishiro.

Hehehe. This movie was funny. It's a black and white Japanese film (with spurts of color here and there). They really just poke fun at old samurai movies with cheesy dialogue and silly music. When they fight they play guitar riffs and when they walk they play 70's porno music. Hehehe. This was a good movie...and really funny. If you have a short attention span or don't like reading subtitles or black and white films...then you probably wouldn't enjoy this but if you have a little time...then this is definitely a hidden jem. Really amusing. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
