Waking Life

Waking Life
[DVD Info]

An animated movie about a guy who falls asleep and sees a bunch of different people talking about their thoughts on life. He can't wake up and has to find a way to wake up by talking to a bunch of different people.

"I don't know either but it'll determine the rest of your life." ~See Captain (yes, spelled right).

The animation bothered me. It was like they took film of people and then just drew over it. I have never seen animation so shakey! I was getting a headache. Bleh.

Ugh. To explain this movie you have to imagine yourself in a room of snobby college kids who are taking a psych course and they have determined the meaning of life by taking this one class. Now, you're in the room with all these zima drinking snobs and there are no doors. You can't get out. And one by one they come up to you and tell you their take on life. You didn't ASK what their take on life was...they just came up to you and started blabbing. THAT is what this movie is about. The writer of this movie decided he was going to make a 2 hour movie about his thoughts on life (and make other actors agree with him). But then he thought to himself... "hmm...it might be a little boring watching people just TALKTALKTALK for 2 hours...I'll have someone draw over the actors to spice it up a bit." It didn't. It just gave me a headache. I could not wait for this movie to end. However, the last guy the main character talks to (he doesn't even have a name) did have something interesting to say and I liked his section. You don't attach to characters because they're just talking your ear off and you want to shoot them. I think the only way to enjoy this movie would be if you believed the exact things they were saying...or if you're on shrooms. This movie was just an excuse to use big words to say simple things. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
