Wishmaster goes to Jail

Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies
[DVD Info]

Three museum thieves are stealing art from a museum which also happens to house the statue of Ahura Mazda (remember from the first movie?). After one of the thieves breaks some glass to get to a golden goblet the alarm goes off (this must have been his first time…idiot) there’s a shoot out between the thieves and the security guards. One of the guards accidentally shoots the statue and a piece breaks off exposing the stone of fire. One of the two surviving art stealers grabs it and they take off…but as they’re running out of the building a security guard pops out of nowhere are shoots at them. Pulling off the masks to reveal a girl and a guy, the girl grabs her partner’s gun and shoots the guard and killing him. The girl, Morgana (Holly Fields), was shot at but the stone she grabbed from the statue deflected the bullet and broke open. The guy, her boyfriend, was shot and fatally wounded. With the cops coming she gives him a kiss goodbye and runs off. While he’s laying there dying something shoots out of the broken gem that Morgana left on the ground and splatters on the wall. A slimy head pokes out and asks the man if he’s in pain. Do you want me to ease the pain? Do you want to be freed? (Sound familiar?) The boy declines. He wishes he was never born (how random) and the Djinn (see Wishmaster to see the origin of the Djinn) complies. The Djinn (Andrew Divoff) who is disguised as Nathanial Demeras (again…same guy as the first movie) says he’s the one who committed the robbery and he goes to jail. There he grants the wishes of the cell mates in exchange for their souls. Again, Morgana is psychically connected to the Wishmaster and she sees his murders and has nightmares about them. Can she stop the Wishmaster with the help of a priest?

People get angry when there are consequences for their actions (how dare they!)

"I like to flatter myself." ~Nathanial Demaras (Djinn).

Ugh...see below.
The girl who played Morgana was sooooo annoying. Ugggggh. Whine, whine, whine...blech...

Well. I’ll be honest. I was expecting this movie to be bad. But this movie was bad beyond all my expectations. It was kind of an alternate universe (and no I didn’t forget the little details because I watched them right after another). In this movie the Djinn has to collect 1001 souls before he can make Morgana say her three wishes. Also…in this one in order to trap the Djinn she must have a priest (who ISN’T pure because he has sex with her right before they fight the Djinn) say an incantation and she has to be pure of heart and say the same incantation (trust me…I’m not spoiling anything…unless you want to sit through this piece). It was a stupid storyline. Even if they had just copied the first one it would have been better than what they tried to do here. It was an hour and a half of TALKING. Ugggh. The Djinn spent most of the movie in the jail making lame jokes (and he said “Make your wish” a million times). However…if you were ever curious what it would look like for someone to “fuck themselves” here’s your chance. It was just stupid. Morgana had to make herself pure, so she cuts off her pinky and wears a cardigan. She gets it on with the priest and then that’s that. So lame. There were only five Djinn Related Deaths…and they weren’t very gory or good. Even when they did the mass murder thing at the end…it didn’t make up for the suffering this movie caused. Too much talking, not enough death. Now I know why they packaged Wishmaster 1 and 2 together...they knew no one would buy the second one...EVER. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:

Irritated that I actually sat through the whole thing.
(This was what my brain was doing inside my head while watching this flick)
