Cleveland

I recently took a bit of a trip to Cleveland with some people I know.  I'm not going to go into too many details, as this page exists mainly so that I can have the photos up on the web.  Send any comments or questions to me if you want.  Otherwise, I'll tell the story as I place the photos.  Happy browsing!

Keith, sleeping in the car as we started on our way Saturday morning.  I guess he had a wild night and was a bit hung-over.

Keith again, at a fancy rest area just after getting on the Ohio Turnpike.  After eating, Luke (right, reflected in the mirror) took a break from driving.  i would have volunteered some time at the wheel but I guess you have to be 21 to drive rental cars.

Lynne and Luke, taking a break in the hotel lobby after a long morning's drive.  And, just for kicks: who else thinks the ceiling lights in that lobby are a little suggestive?
All the pictures taken in our rooms and in the hall.  Nice rooms.  Nice hotel.

After resting a little while at the hotel we decided to drive into town.  We didn't get to do much exploring, but Luke and I checked out a neat alley near the Fat Fish Blue restaurant.  It had this electronic noise coming from it from somewhere, and nobody could figure out what was making it and for what reason.  I guessed that it was to scare away the birds, but we saw a pigeon chillin' right near whatever was making that noise.  Weird.  Also, what you don't see (and smell) are the puddles of urine--defining characteristics of a good alley, if you ask me.  And, the photo on the right is a pigeon feeding frenzy.  That's what happens when you drop a slice of pizza in the big city.

We didn't see much of Cleveland, but we did see a lot of a mall.  It was a nice mall, but it's not really my idea of sightseeing.  Oh well.  There was a cool skylight and some fountain show that was mildly entertaining, and good for at least one picture from where I saw it.

After that, there was a lot of sitting around.  I got my portfolio critiqued by a really great guy named Richard Scheer, and then it was time to party.  But, oddly enough, most people did not want to party.  So, it was just me and Luke.  We had to go on a quest to find beer, and then we snuck it into the hotel bar so a) I could drink and b) Bud Light didn't cost a fortune a bottle.  It was fun.

Luke and me.

The bottom of a bottle.  Steve Perez.  Teresa.  Fun times. I didn't take all these pictures--Luke took some.  But it's cool.  Fun times.

The left two photos: kids from BSU.  I argued with some of them for the sake of arguing later in the night, after I'd had about 8 beers.  And, on the picture on the right: people involved with a wedding.  And TV screens.

And then it was off to argue with BSU kids, then sleep on the floor, then wake up at 7:30 for some sessions.  It was a long, long Sunday, but I learned a lot.

CMU people, sitting the the room where many photos were shown.

Eric, a very cool guy and a great source of advice.

Lunch at Denny's.

And then, after sitting through another 2 or so hours of photos, it was time to go home.  Basically the same story as on the way to Cleveland, except going the other direction.

Just some pictures taken in the car.  Luke, driving and me, passenger-ing.

The drawbridge at Toledo was raised while we were on our way back, so we had some time to stop and play in the street.  But then, it's the rest of the way back to Mt. Pleasant.

It is, indeed, a long way home.  Anyway, those are the pictures.  You can fill in the blanks with your imagination if you'd like, or you can as me any questions you might have about the trip.  I know the commentary isn't very in-depth, but I really don't feel like writing too much about it.  Thanks for checking these out, anyway.  I'm sure our paths will cross while we're wandering the highways of North America.

Back.
