A sampler from the Lifehouse Chronicles, it features 11 cuts including “New Song”, an orchestral version of “Baba O’Riley” and, as ever, a beautiful version of “Pure and Easy” including both verses. Typically, in other versions, it’s one or the other. Although it was somewhat hard to get into at first, it’s a nice album. However, not one for someone not very familiar with Pete’s songs; be it solo or Who. I'd give it a 2 and 1/2 Creepy Crawly rating. It may seem low, but you must understand that there are albums I find more appealing, but I still adore these songs and their varying versions. Don't think I don't! The album has it's moments, but over all... there are better.

One note, sounds like a light ray One note, sounds like a new day One note, holds all the others Millions of colors So one note... is best! |

The last war finally ended with a huge explosion in Japan. Some of the liberated prisoners of war from Berma brought home souvenirs, like Shamisen, little banjos with lizard skin resonators. That terrible bomb. All those perfect Japanese gardens, timber houses with paper walls...consumed in the monumental roar of darkness. All those one stringed musical instruments burning black. Those delicate single notes bended. But there is peace there of course. In the end all those in pain died quietly in the gentle arms of the shadow. And as ever, the sun rises... |

This is not going to be a normal occurance, but upon looking back through these reviews, I have come to the conclusion that I rated this one too harshly. After running through and creating all the reviews I began to listen to this album more and more, and it grew on me. There are finer points that I failed to take into consideration. The first track which is written above is done quite well. The child fightens me, but the spoken introduction leads directly into a beautiful orchestral version of Baba O'Riley. It brings a tear to the eye. The version of "Pure and Easy" on this album is probably the best around. It includes both the verses into one wonderful song. As we progress on, we come to "Let's See Action" which I find something very intreging about, but I can't say exactly what. He does it well... what more is to be said? "Who Are You", done well... don't get me wrong, gets to be rather frightening when Pete, or someone, goes into a rap. After quite the discussion on the topic, Jena and I come to the conclusion that it's a 50/50 chance that Pete is in fact rapping on that track. There are but two options... it is, or it isn't. Nothing more, nothing less. Simple as that. You can decide for yourself when you get this cd. It is recommended with it's new Creepy Crawly rating of 4!
