Scoop
1983
And then we start in on the scoop series. Pete says it best, “It’s a valuable Pete Townshend recording… it must be treasured.” And it is! This CD, one of four, holds quite a few beautifully done songs. Most of which were redone and released on later CDs, both his own solo albums and those of the Who. It starts off with “So Sad About Us”, a song to bring a tear to the eye. Throws in a few laughs with “Piano: “Tipperary”. Fascinates you with a lovely, yet interesting version of “Melancholia” and the sounds achieved by Pete using various techniques, and even children’s toys, in “Recorders”. It then wraps it all up with an exquisitely done version of “Love Reign O’er Me.” It doesn’t stop with that though. With the sleeve notes and little anecdotes by Pete, the album offers hours of audio and visual entertainment! A little saddening that it’s only one disc, but it’s still well worth it! A nice Creepy Crawly of 4 to this one!
