Comment Okay, time to be honest: Swordgirl missed. Set in ancient times, the story is about how a tomboyish-girl falls for a mysterious guy who is under orders to kill her family. Sounds good, huh? Not really. First off, Alec needs to be majorly jealous because Vicki was head-over-heels for Nicky in this series. Secondly, this review is going to be much less fair than my others because I wasn't paying attention to the series the whole time. But I think the fact that I didn't focus on the series says something about the series itself: it just didn't measure up. Despite having Vicki Zhao (who plays the tomboy Lu Jian Ping) and Nicky Wu (the "killer" Shuei Ruo Han) together in almost every scene, the series as a whole moved slowly and rather confusingly. But before I bash it too much, here are some highlights: ~ The series kicked off with a bang. I cracked up over the scenes in which Jian Ping (Vicki) first meets Shuei Ruo Han (Nicky) and brings him home. Ruo Han ends up doing all of Jian Ping's work, and she gets away with it in front of her father too! ~ Vicki's "Swordgirl" look is pretty cool. I like the light make-up and swept hair. Her character in the beginning reminded me alot of Xiao Yan Zi - all bubbly and a bit ditsy - too bad she didn't keep it up. |
