Zeus AD JD DOB:12/5/97 Breed: Black & White Border Collie Loves : Agility, Tennis Balls, his Mum Hates : Saying goodbye in the morning |
Zeus is my sweet boy and loyal companion. He is always there with me and always there for me. He was bred by Jeanette Coe from Waminda Kennels. His sire is Aust. CH Korella Gaelic Tartan and his dam is Waminda Justa Nickel. We got him at 10 weeks of age and I spoilt him rotten. He came everywhere with me, to the supermarket, to sporting events and he could often be found asleep under the pool table of our local pub. He is a very soft dog in temperament and we had a fear aggression issue to deal with, as he reached adolescence. After seeking help from a professional trainer, we dealt with his a lot of his fears and worked on building his confidence. At 4, Zeus started agility and loved it from the very beginning. Being a mummys boy, we had to work quite hard on getting him to move ahead and reduce his dependence on me. At some point, this clicked in to place and he started to really move. He learnt commands very easily and has always tried his hardest to do what I want on course. He is a barker...something I wish to avoid with future dogs. Quite honestly, I don't often hear or notice it, but it must be hard for him to see where he's going or hear my commands while barking. As time has gone by, his barking has decreased as his motivation has increased. I think what started out as frustration, became a habit because people tell me now that it's a happy bark on course. For Zeus, the game doesn't exist without me. This has its advantages and its disadvantages. I recently ran him while 7 months pregnant and he was happy to go with me & not at all frustrated at my lack of usual speed. Over time, he has become faster and tighter and often puts out around the same times as Noah, even though he is slower across the ground. He is nearly 8, I hate to retire him while he is so obviously enjoying his sport but will assess the situation again when we start back at training next year. As I type, he is perched on a chair, outside my office, peering through the window...that is the type of dog he is. He epitomises "unconditional love" and I give him all mine in return. |
