| An active part of any environmental effort is to be informed of things which cause problems and steps which can be taken to solve them. The purpose of this is to renew your understanding of the concepts which have been covered this year. |

1. Define watershed and recharge area.
2. A picture of a common decomposer and one of an autotroph 3. A picture or name and description of 2 species in a mutualistic relationship 4. Pictures or names and descriptions of 3 mammals native to your state. 5. A picture or name and description of an introduced species to your state 6. Name a genetically engineered food and describe its qualities 7. Describe flood control measures/concerns where you live- identify the area. 8. List 3 public lands in your state 9. List an estuary in your state 10. List 2 rivers in your state. 11. List areas which have fish advisories, the substance and people involved. 12. A water cycle diagram 13. Diagram explaining composting. 14. Draw and label a landfill diagram 15. Diagram with steps/stages of a waste water treatment plant. 16. Get an article from a magazine or newspaper on Environmental Laws (EX. water quality, land use, an EIS, Endangered Species Act). It must include the date, source and a summary. 17. An article on waste management or pollution affects of water, soil and health in your area. 18. List 3 ways to decrease carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. 19. List 3 ways you personally can save water. 20. Name 2 devises which can be used to decrease water use at your home. 21. Name a water bourne disease and give its symptoms. 22. Name one item of waste frequently found in waterways. How long does it take to decay? 23. List of 5 ways you can save energy. 24. Energy-Efficient light bulb- the paackage, not the bulb. 25. Find an energy efficiency label from a new appliance. Write down the type of appliance and the information from the label. Explain why this product saves energy. 26. Ticket from riding public transportation (bus, plaine, subway, train, etc.) Note from your school bus driver if you are a rider with the number of riders.. 27. Three labels from paper products made from recycled materials. 28. Name 2 recycled products made from something besides paper. 29. Name one item of Recycled plastic & one you purchase to refill / reuse with 2 uses for it. 30. List of all the hazardous chemicals and wastes in your home. 31. Name 3 items with warning from home- and the warning 32. Where is your local recycling center? Where are the recycled cans, bottles & paper sent? 33. Locate the sanitary landfill in your area. What items to they accept, and how do they treat the waste materials that they receive? 34. Locate 2 vehicles and copy the information about their energy efficiency regarding the mileage you would expect in city and highway driving. Estimate the fuel costs of driving them for 1 year. |
