Had he known this would happen? He wasn’t sure.
Had it been what he always wanted? He didn’t want to say.
Had it surpassed all his expectations? What, was he a complete fool? Of course.
Afterwards, all he wanted was silence. Silence was golden. Talking was so much a part of everything else they were – for this, he just wanted white noise.
But she didn’t seem to understand.
“Why not?” she asked.
“I don’t know.” He didn’t know how to put it into words.
“Yes, you do,” she countered.
“What do you want me to say?”
“Not that.”
“Donna!”
“Don’t.”
