The Hourglass of the Faith
March 8 2004
Well, we did it.
We were three weeks late but we did it.
Janice and I went to see The Passion of the Christ over the weekend, adding another 12 dollars into the collection plate of Mel Gibson and you know what? It felt good. It felt great. We cried, our hearts sank and our minds raced. The movie was nothing short of the greatest movie of all time based upon the life of Jesus Christ.
If we are to believe every single left-wing media pundit, column writer and pointless mouthpiece, we would assume that this entire country would be breaking out in full scale riots directed towards Synagogues and people of the Jewish faith. Have we seen anything like this on the news yet? I sure haven't. Are we erecting concentration camps again? Not where I live. Have we taken to the streets with violence upon witnessing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the big screen? Hardly. Another fire-drill annoyance from the left wing sect of this country who still wake up mad at the world knowing that Christianity still exists in this country and knowing that it always will. No matter what they try to do in order to make us forget about our religion, it doesn't work. It infuriates them knowing that we put the lord Jesus Christ above our government as the deity we aspire to and worship. Not those in Washington and in the Supreme Court.
So they're scratching their heads wondering why there isn't a huge outbreak of Anti-Semitism in the United States Right now. Why haven't we seen al Qaida-like rampages of heated hatred and violence sweeping through our country? Because the same people who saw The Passion of the Christ saw the same thing I did.
The Jewish faith missed the boat.
You could see it in their eyes during the crucifixion. You can
hear it in their voices today when they speak to defend their faith. It's almost
like they're saying "Hey, we didn't make the call back then." They simply follow
Judaism now because, like many of us, we were born into our faith. We love our
faith, right or wrong, just like our country and our family. But the Jewish
faith of modern day knows that they have indeed, missed the boat.
As they
wait for the Son of David to come, they wait with a troubled faith in their
soul. A doubt that perhaps their leaders from yesteryear dropped the ball when
it came to their views on Jesus Christ.
So why is there a total lack of hatred and violence stemming from the release of the Passion of the Christ? One word: pity.
The viewers of the Passion could see how unfortunate the lives of the Jews have been since the crucifixion of Christ. Their religion almost carries a certain "Curse of the Bambino" like legacy to it, similar to the Red Sox. Since their lapse in judgment regarding the true nature of Christ, their lives have seen a hurricane of turmoil and sadness.
The true Christian sees this and feels sorry for them, not hatred or disgust. It's a simple matter of Christian pity. We all know they have to carry on with this notion that their Messiah will return someday and we respect their faith. However, at the rate this planet is eroding, it has to weigh heavy on their hearts.
So maybe you can keep this in mind next time you see another left-wing talking head explaining why Mel Gibson wants a religious-war to break out in America. Don't get angry at this man. Remember what Christ taught us in The Passion. Any man can love his friend and there is no reward in that. The true reward comes from loving your enemy. What can we possibly gain by vowing revenge on a society that knows it's wrong to begin with?
We can only as true Christians extend our hands in love to reach out to these marooned souls and give them the gift of forgiveness and understanding. We can give them the tools to come home. But we cannot build their vessels, only they can. But we will be waiting with open arms when they arrive home.
Forgiveness is divine.
