Saywards population is approximately 1400. We are surrounded by majestic mountains, on the famous Johnstone Strait, & also known as the "Gateway to the North Island". Sayward is located 45 minutes north of Campbell River.

Stubbs Island Whale Watching is perfect for a day trip as it operates out of  nearby Telegraph Cove. There they will take you on an orca and wildlife cruise through the calm protected waters of the Johnstone Straight & the Blackfish Archipelago.

Hire a guide for some excellent fresh or saltwater fishing. The Salmon River reputedly has the largest steelhead on Vancouver Island.

Watch for Roosevelt Elk, there are 4 herds in the Sayward Valley. These year-round residents are often seen grazing along the roadside or in our own back fields.

Dalrymple Creek nature trail, or a brisk hike to the Salmon River Lookout or challenge yourself to the Kusam Klimb !!

Visit the world's only steel cable building wrapped with 2500 meters of wire cable & weighing 26 tons, an iron man totem, and a preserved steam donkey.
