Ciudad Victoria

"Ciudad Victoria, is a clean, prosperous and friendly city located at the foot of the huge Sierra Madre Mountains with an altitude of 900 ft. It generally has mild winters (with a few exceptional days in January, when it dips to the 30's, due to the northern cold air). It is a very safe city and walking around until a reasonable hour at night is probably safer than in your hometown.

"You're only 3-1/2 to 5 hours from McAllen/Brownsville or Monterrey and about 4 to 5 hours from Tampico and you can be on the beach at La Pesca in less than 2 hours. There's plenty of unleaded gas on the way. Cd. Victoria is a good place to 'get away' without going too far. It's also a favorite stop along the way to San Luis Potosi, where you can go on to Mexico City, or cut over to Guadalajara."

Photos of the City and its Surroundings

Hunters will find ala blanca (white-wing dove) at nearby Aldama. Those who just want to watch birds will find them at Rio Corona. More can be found in the mountains halfway between Victoria and Soto la Marina. Still more are at Gomez Farias and El Cielo Bio-Reserve. Getting Here from the US

The easiest way to get here is to cross at Los Indios, Texas. First find the place at Harlingen where Highways 77 and 83 join. Go southeast on the combined highways. It probably will be called I-69. In 4.0 mi (6.4 km), exit right onto FM-509 (Paso Real Highway). In .3 mi (.5 km), go right toward the Free Trade Bridge. In 10 mi (16 km), after crossing the bridge, reach the customs office and get your permits.

The custom along this stretch of highway is to drive on the shoulder so the main lanes are available for passing.

In 3.0 mi (4.8 km), at a highway interchange, go straight.

In 5.9 mi (9.5 km), at Km 36, at a stop, angle left toward Valle Hermoso.

In 17.0 mi (27.4 km), enter the town of Valle Hermoso. There are banks and money exchange houses here, but if it's not convenient to park go on to Cd. Victoria.

In 7.6 mi (12.2 km), at Km 9.7, reach the Aduana. Show your permits. Go on and follow the main track toward Cd. Victoria.

In 8.5 mi (13.7 km), go right toward Cd. Victoria.

In 32.6 mi (52.5 km), at Km 202.5, angle left toward Cd. Victoria. This is the highway from Reynosa.

Follow the main track past turnoffs for Fco Villa.

In 126 mi (204 km), at Km 4.6, reach the intersection with Hwys 70 and 85. Go straight.

In 2 mi (3.2 km), just after Hotel Paradise Inn on the left, at a divided street (major intersection), go right (Fidel Velásquez).

In .3 mi (.5 km), at the first crossover (Retorno), go left and drive straight into the entrance to the RVP. Find a space you like.

If you have a GPS receiver, the coordinates for the campground are W99.13534, N23.74369.

During 31 years in the R.V. Park business we've sent out "tons" of literature to people who've written us, called us or sent us a fax requesting information-in all of those 31 years not one of those people has ever come. We have come to the conclusion not to answer any more requests. With the information we've supplied on internet all of your questions should be answered. So: Don't write, don´t call, Just come!!! If you are really serious, we will answer.
