NETPLAY HELP
Starting a Net Play Game

Before playing a game, users must agree which options and which screen elements will be used. The home team manager will make these settings after the game starts, and the settings will affect both his display and the visiting team's display. Before deciding on your options you should read the "Ideas for speeding up Net Play" section for information on speeding up playing games.
To host a game:
- Both users should connect to the internet.
- The home team computer runs the internet component version of the Baseball game (Do this by clicking the Start button, select programs, Strat-O-Matic CD-ROM Baseball)
- The home team starts a game. "This will be scheduled game".
- Click File and Host a game
- Click YES to host a home game
- You can name the game what ever you like
- Make sure the port is set to 6501
- Click OK
- Click OK again and Share your external IP address with your opponent. (You can use whatmyip.org to identify the IP )
- You will see the game state 'Ready to take the Field"
- Start Game as normal by setting lineups and click Playball.

Visitor actions to connect to join a hosted game:
- Open up Strat-o-matic (So this by cliking the start button, select programs, Start-O-Matic, CD-Rom Baseball)
- Click File
- Click Join a game
- In server Address, type in your opponents IP adress

                                                       HOME NETWORK SOLUTION
M
ake sure if you have Windows that the firewall is turned off  (Controlpanel/networkconnections/LAN properties/Advanced)
When you run the home team software, it spits out the IP address of your machine on the LOCAL network, not the internet IP.  The SOMWORLD forum pointed this URL, which detects your real IP:
http://www.whatismyip.net/cgi-bin/your_ip_is.cgi
http://strat-o-sphere.net/viewtopic.php?t=6

After that, there are two possible methods that have been suggested for prepping your router.
A) Port forwarding to port 6501.Contact the commissioner for these directions.

B) Another solution, from the SOM World site, is to place your PC into the  DMZ:
To "position" one of your LAN's computers outside the firewall, change your "DMZ" setting:
** Get the the LAN IP of the computer you'd like to be able to use to  host/play Netplay games. For me, the address is 192.161.1.xxx; you'll  only need the xxx, and xxx should be between 2 and 253
** Crank up the router's browser-accessible control site (for me, it's at 192.168.1.1; the default password is admin, with the userID space kept blank)
** Click on the Advanced tab
** Click on the DMZ tab
** Enter the xxx of the LAN IP (as referred to above)
** Save your settings
