First baseman Nomar Garciaparra left the yard and Javier Vazquez whiffed 11
batters at Samuel Adams Stadium as the Rising Sun Sun beat the Boston
Teabaggers by the count of 4 to 1.
Vazquez(1-0) had a strong outing. He didn't allow much, just 6 hits and 1
walk in 8 innings improving his ERA from 5.06 to 2.70. Rising Sun finished
with 12 hits while Boston ended up with 6.
Vazquez got relief help from Joe Nathan who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Barry Zito(1-1) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 2
walks in 7 innings.
Vazquez was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty
confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me and I
just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
