My Fushigi Yuugi Corner |
![]() |
** As you might have noticed I am completely obsessed with Fushigi, this epic love story anime that I discovered back when I was still living in the Phillippines. As a tribute to the amazingly handsome men of Fushigi Yuugi, I pay homage to the creator Yuu Watase with this little corner in my small website. If you haven't heard of FY (short for Fushigi Yuugi) you've missed a wonderful anime series. FY is the best!!! (although my friend Apple would surely say its GUNDAM WING... hmmm... cuz of a certain Heero perhaps?...) |
Why do I even like Fushigi Yuugi? Well its mainly because of the powerful story that it has. Set in modern Tokyo and ancient China, the intense plot of love, power, greed, and jealousy always amazes me in every time I get the chance to watch an episode. There was even an episode in which a character died tragically (for those who know... Nuriko) I felt like someone close to me died as well... this is how powerful Fushigi Yuugi is. And there's of course, Miaka and Tamahome's love... This couple (see picture above) just eludes me so much, and not to say Tamahome's really CUTE face..... [*sigh* too bad he's just an anime guy]. Both are loyal to each other, and both would be willing to die for each other's safety. That is just so hugely heroic and compassionate that you actually symphatize with there hardships in the series. As an audience you yourself is forced to feel what Miaka feels in Episode 22, * In Episode 22, one of the Suzaku seishi Hotohori furiously releases his ki because of intense affections for the main character, Miaka. Tamahome, Miaka's love has been brainwashed through a drug called Kodoku, in which alters his personality and forces him to kill Miaka. After Hotohori stabs the evil Tamahome in the chest with his sword, Miaka rushes to Tamahome's side and allow him to kill her in order to save her darling Tamahome from the effects of Koduku. In the end, Miaka and Tamahome's love for each other manages to break the spell of the drug. Their love for each other is just so sweet, that most of time, at least for me, you would want to fall in love like that... -manderley's angel 2/2/03 |

Featured: Fushigi Yuugi Eikoden (VIZ) *spoiler free* For my birthday, my dear best gal pal Rei gave me a copy of the FY Eikoden DVD. As usual with all other installments, how ever unsurpassable the TV series, the OVAs proves truthful to the characters and plot frame. In Eikoden, we finally see Miaka become Mrs. Sukanami, finally wed to Taka (the reincarnation of Tamahome in the real world). Actually, my sister is watching it now and I am desperately trying to cover my ears so that I won't hear, its painful enough to sit through a FY episode once. Tears start to fall from my eyes whenever I encounter even one bit of FY. My favorite episode would probably the ending sequence when Taka/Tamahome returns from the book world after helping save Mayo ( new chac.) and Miaka wakes up from her coma... (wha? did i just say coma...hmm) and says "Welcome back my love..." The version I watched was English dubbed... soo.. and the ending part when Taka and friends are waiting at the hospital waiting room for the baby's birth... then you hear Miaka in the background saying "We'll name her Hikari, meaning light..." The factor that I liked best was: the opening song... it was so sad..... |
