WHY CHOOSE KAISER PERMANENTE?
We realise that Kaiser Permanente offers Laser Vision Correction on a fee-for-service basis separate from your Health Plan benefits, and you have many choices of getting refractive surgery in Southern California. Some of these laser centers may even offer less expensive prices, for example $1400 for both eyes! However, not all centers offer the same quality of care, expertise, and equipment. Some of the less expensive centers are experimenting with the market, therefore are willing to give out special rates that are not sustainable. You should realise that long term followup after surgery is important, if these other centers are not able to sustain business, you will have trouble finding a surgeon to perform retreatment, should you need one in the future.
Also, some laser centers not only use obsolete lasers, or reuse microkeratome blades.
Kaiser Permanente has been a health care industry leader for over 50 years. Our commitment to high quality patient care and our expansive network of highly trained optometrists and ophthalmologists include some of the industry's most experienced Laser Vison Correction refractive surgeons. Surgeons are full time employees of Kaiser, they live and stay in the vacinity of the medical center 99.9% of the time. This is unlike surgeons employed by various laser centers who usually work part-time, and they have to work in geographically distant areas from the laser center. If you have an eye problems after the procedure, it may be difficult to be examined by the surgeon who performed the operation on you.
We use the latest VISX S4 & Autonomous LADAR vison laser utilising Wavefront technology and eye tracker to perform laser correction.

The procedure requires no sedation and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Dr. Yo has been performing refractive procedure for the last 9 years, and has been using a VISX excimer laser back in 1996 when it was first approved by the FDA to correct vision in the United States. Dr. Yo is one of the certified eye surgeons in using the VISX excimer laser and the Autonomous Laser .

Dr. Yo currently performs LASIK in San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Pasadena, Arcadia, San Marino, El Monte, Monrovia, Rowland Heights, and Diamond Bar; has proctored resident ophthalmologists at the USC Doheny Eye Institute and local community eye surgeons in LASIK techniques. He also presents his research in Laser Vision Correction in international meetings frequently such as the ASCRS (American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery).
