Spins

Spins done in pairs skating is less open to individual interpretation. There are all together two kinds of spins, ie. side by side spins and pair combination spins. [refer to singles skating - spins for list of spins]

In side by side spins, both partners have to enter the spin at the same time and spin in unison, ie. at the same speed and position (with exception the side by side upright spin, backspin, or cross foot spin which are all imposibble to do in unison). The common side by side spins are : -
pair sit spin
pair camel spin
pair camel-sit-upright spin
pair flying camel

Pair combination spin requires both partners doing a spin at the same axis. This kind of spin is more open to interpretation. One common position is the lady doing a layback and the man doing a sit spin. The entrance to this spin must be noted as skaters enter the spin facing each other. In most pair combination spins, it is the man who does all the work. The momentum for the spin is usually from the man. Another common pair combination spin is both partners doing camel spin at the same axis.
