ALBENA DIMOVA

Albena Dimova was taught by the prominent Plovdiv piano-player and music teacher Yulia Gerginova, in whose class she finished the High-School of Music “Dobrin Petkov” with high honours. She continued her education at the State Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” in professor Lyuba Obretenova’s class. After her graduation she took a master class with the same teacher. Dimova later specialised with Dubravka Tomshich (herself a student of Arthur Rubinstein) in Weimar and with professor Francoise Tina at L’Ecole Normale in Paris. Since the age of sixteen Albena Dimova has been giving solo performances and has played as soloist with symphonic orchestras in Sofia, Plovdiv, Bourgas and Pazardjik. She has performed under the baton of Dobrin Petkov, Dimiter Manolov, Georgi Dimitrov and others. She has also participated in chamber concerts in Bulgaria and abroad. Albena Dimova made records for the Bulgarian National Television, for radio stations in Plovdiv, Sofia and Shoumen and for the Balkanton Recording Company. She was the first musician in Bulgaria to introduce works by List, Debusy, Satti, Messian, Dimov, Nikolov etc. She has active teaching practice at the National Academy of Music and Dance in Plovdiv, where she is a senior fellow, and at the “Dobrin Petkov” High-School of Music, Plovdiv.
