METHODIST BAKED BEANS

These are called Methodist Baked Beans because someone always brought this dish to the Methodist Church suppers.

1 pound ground beef (chuck or round)
1 large (2 pound) can pork and beans
    1 cup ketchup
    1/2 cup syrup
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup barbecue sauce
    1 onion, chopped
    1 green bell pepper, chopped
Garlic powder (or garlic, crushed), salt and pepper, to taste

Brown ground beef in iron skillet; drain off excess fat. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Pour into a baking dish and place cover on top. Cook in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Uncover and cook for 20 minutes more until bubbly and lightly brown on top.
