Education
Eve Weiss is a registered Suzuki Guitar teacher. She teaches in her private studio and at the Rye Arts Center in Rye, New York. She has more than 30 years of teaching experience with children and adults, with significant experience with students with special needs. She was formerly head of classical guitar studies at Moravian College in Pennsylvania and has taught at The American Institute for Guitar, The Horace Mann School and Riverdale Country School in New York. Ms. Weiss has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe (and between on the QE II!) as a soloist and chamber performer. She made her New York City solo debut to critical acclaim in 1983. As part of the Zemlin/Weiss guitar duo she was the first American woman to receive the Toscanini Award for 19th-Century Chamber Music in Stresa, Italy. She continues to perform solo and with violin or chamber ensembles. A frequent performer on radio and television nationwide, Ms. Weiss performed as part of the 13 part NPR series "Glise On Guitar." A specialist in music of the 19th-Century, Ms. Weiss has studied privately with Manuel Barrueco, Pat O'Brien and Sharon Isbin. Master classes have been with Oscar Ghiglia and Angel Romero. She attended Laguardia High School of the Arts in New York, and has a B.S. in music, cum laude, from the City University in New York. Her family page is located here. |
