Statement of The "Musavat" Party

The "Musavat" Party strongly supports NATO's military operations aimed to stop ethnic cleansing and genocide perpetuated by Belgarde and calls for the condemnation of the actions of the Milosevic government which violates peace and stability in Europe.

The Azerbaijani people are very sensitive to the sufferings of the Kosovo Albanians, since the large part of Azerbaijan has been occupied by the Armenian forces and hundreds of thousands Azeris have been forcibly expelled from their homes and suffered genocide. Tens of thousands of houses have been burned and looted. The perpetrators of this crime against humanity have not been punished and, on the contrary, they have been promoted to the highest leadership of the Armenian government. The lack of necessary actions against those crimes paved the way to other crimes in different parts of the world including Yugoslavia.

It should be also noted that the recent efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group which is to eliminate the consequences of Armenian aggression in the region are not sufficient to eliminate the results of ethnic cleansing and acquisition of territory by force. The "Musavat" Party regrets that International community failed to recognize the Republic of Armenia as an aggressor for her ethnic cleansing policy which left Armenian republic with impunity. The decisive steps made by NATO increased the hopes of the Azerbaijani people for the restoration of peace and justice in the region and brought confidence that the war criminals would be punished. The "Musavat" Party calls upon international community to support bringing the perpetrators of ethnic cleansing in Armenia to the International Court of Justive and to support the efforts of NATO in Yugoslavia.
