Salt Never Hurt Anyone, Especially While They Were in Hallstatt

This first shot comes to you from across Hallstatt Lake, on the docks, by the train station. This little journey, I must say, is very quaint and is definitely memorable...Of the different ways to access the Salzkammergut region of Austria, the train/boat ride is great. The bus ride is also great, but you have to deal with changing buses and an infrequent schedule. This quaint town has the distinction of having a time period in history named after it. "The Hallstat Period," otherwise known as the Early Iron Age, saw the blossoming of this town as one of the most important towns in Europe. This was due to the tremendous amount of salt in the mountains. These regions were accessable and you can see the methods by which the salt was taken out, both now and then.

One of the coolest things that I did here was take a tour of the salt mine/museum, and I actually understood everything, since the tour was in German and I thouroughly enjoyed my experiences in this town and I will go back some day...
Maybe sooner than later!!

This next pic is of the approach to this great little town by boat. These nice ladies on the boat took this picture for me, and I eventually met up with them again about 3 hours later, by chance, at a restaurant atop the montain....Oh yeah, you can see me at this restaurant below...

The best parts of this region of Austria are the nature shots...What a beautiful country Austria is. This part of the country makes me want to go back their and buy a home to retire to and be able to just enjoy life. It's quaint, not too far from everything, and just breathtakingly beautiful. These pics don't do this place justice, and unfortunately, I can't put all of my pics up on the site. If you want to see more, just contact Me and I will send them individually.

Hallstatt has a great location in Austria, and is not far away from Salzburg or Vienna. Check them out, along with the rest of Austria and Europe!!!
