1996
"A Drum Corps Fan's Dream, Part Dos"
The '96 show theme was meant to be the third in a trilogy of Spanish-themed shows.  The repertoire included:  "A Mis Abuelos/Barcelona," an adaptation of tunes by Arturo Sandoval and (believe it or not) John Tesh, an excerpt from "Bolero" by Maurice Ravel, "En Fuego," based on a tune by Michael Camilo, and we closed with THE Madison trademark, "Malaguena," by Ernesto Leucona/Bill Holman.  It was great to get to play this Madison favorite (I figured if I stuck around long enough, I'd get to).  Honestly, the season was a bit frustrating at times since it followed possibly the best edition of the Madison Scouts ever.  It was still an unbelievable experience with new twists with the whole Orlando deal.
Yep, looks familiar.  This IS a different year, we just like starting our shows like this (just in case people don't know who we are).

We take pride in being entertaining on the field, but we also need to keep ourselves entertained on those long bus rides...

...to Orlando, Florida for the first year of the great DCI/Disney bond.  Having finals in Florida has its disadvantages, like the heat and humidity at practice...(me in the middle)

...but also has its advantages like getting to do this concert at the American Pavilion in Epcot Center.  The free time in the parks, staying in an air-conditioned motel, and winning the Spirit of Disney Award for the most entertaining show aren't bad perks either.
