    The life of my delights,
    The glory of my brightest days,
    And comfort of my nights,

In darkest shades, if he appear,
My dawning is begun,
He is my soul's bright morning star,
And he my rising sun.

2. The Lord beheld my sure distress,
    He bode my pains remove,
    Return my soul to God thy rest,
    For thou hast known his love.

The gates of the devouring grave,
Are opened wide in vain,
If he that holds the keys of death
Commands them fast again.

 3. I love the Lord, He heard my cries,
    And pitied every groan,
    Long as I live when troubles rise,
    I'll hasten to his throne.

4. My God hath saved my soul from death,
    And dried my falling tears,
    Now to his praise I'll spend my breath,
    And my remaining years.
