Manager of Corporate IT/Senior Corp IT Engineer, Present Employer (300+ employees with two branch offices) (02/06-present)

I am responsible for all aspects of the corporate infrastructure, include all day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, Security and expansion of LAN. 

Description of the Infrastructure:  Windows 2003 Active Directory, 3 offices in different time zones, approximately 20 servers and 150 workstations and laptops. The servers include 4 Exchange Servers with support for OWA, RPC over HTTPS and Mobile phone and PDA support. 

Accomplishments:

  • oversaw the integration of the network infrastructure of two separate companies as a result of an acquisition that more than doubled the size of the original company.
  • upgraded the Windows Domain from Windows 2000 Active Directory with Exchange 2000 to Windows 2003 Active Directory with Exchange 2003
  • renegotiated the conferencing calling contract in my first month of employment saving over $30,000
  • setup 802.11 G wireless network
  • revamped SOPs for integration of new employees and terminations
  • turned a “break/fix” Corporate IT department into one that proactively meets the needs of its user base. 
  • Installed LifeSize video conferencing between 3 geographically dispersed branches

Was responsible for servicing over a dozen clients with heterogeneous networks at any given time with a variety of business requirements including:  comprehensive network support services, platform upgrades, relocation, etc. 

 

Manager of Information Technology, GeneEd, Inc. (03/01-02/05)

Managed the department responsible for installing and maintaining corporate infrastructure. Have been responsible for up to 3 person department. Responsibilities include all day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, Security and expansion of LAN (approximately 6 servers and 35 workstations and laptops.  I practically built the LAN from scratch.  Network description:  Windows Active Directory Domain with two Domain controllers running Windows 2000 servers and a Windows 2000 Exchange Server.  Three Red Hat Linux servers provide: SAMBA File Sharing , DNS, WWW and FTP; network devices include Cisco 2900 Series Switches, Cisco 700 series Router and a Cisco PIX 515 Firewall. Remote clients connect using a PPTP VPN.  I also maintain the production server that host our live website as well as several e-learning applications.

 

Systems Administrator, 10x (11/00-2/01)

Responsible for installing and maintaining 10x's corporate infrastructure.  Responsibilities included procurement, integration and supporting over 40 Windows 98, NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 laptops/workstations. Configured Cisco 2924 switches and had exposure to Cisco PIX firewall.  Developed and implemented data sharing and resource usage procedures.  Responsible for data protection, including disaster recovery and virus protection.  Handled procurement from Sun Vendors, helped configure Sun E420r and assisted with installation of Solaris operating system and other software as needed by the development group. Additional responsibilities included managing the telecommunications vendor for Nortel PBX support.

 

Systems Administrator, LocalVoice.com (10/99-11/00)      

Designed and built a single PDC network.  Grew the network to 25 nodes, including mail server, file server, and backup server.  Solely responsible for every aspect of the IS department.  Planned and implemented backup regime and disaster recovery procedures.  Instituted anti-virus policy.  Managed NT based phone system and voicemail server.  Planned and implemented office move.

 

Systems and Database Administrator/Office Manager, Bay Area Coalition for Headwaters (98-99)

Ran the IS department characterized by legacy hardware donated by membership.  Developed and maintained the database.  Instituted technical procedures and created a documentation library.

Created the communications section of the Display Software department.  Tested and integrated utilities for reusable software library.  Wrote documentation and created instructional video for utilities.
