Brazil comes to Burgenland

In this business, you never know when you are going to meet someone again…
…even if you thought it very unlikely from the start.

When Tamburitza Orchestra Steinbrunn was at the International Folk Festival
in Praia Grande Santos, Brazil last August (1998) on the valediction of the organization,
Helena Lourenco, mentioned that she hoped we would meet again----somewhere, sometime.  
  We really didn‘t think that this would happen very soon, since Brazil is so far away.

Well, we didn´t have to wait very long, because on the weekend of September 26th, 
1999, Helena Lourenco came to Burgenland, Austria with a brass orchestra from 
Cubatao (a town near Praia Grande).  While they were in Austria, a group of us 
drove to nearby Lackenbach, where our Brazilian friends were staying.
  As we remembered the great two weeks we spent in Brazil last year, tears 
quickly came up to our eyes.  It was so good to see them.  Our one regret 
was that we were not able to organize a performance in Steinbrunn 
since they had a flight to catch our of Vienna.  But, at least we got to 
see them and renew old acquaintances.




Once again, we had to say „Good bye“. 
   As they were leaving, Ynel, Helena´s husband, said in his „broken“ 
English: „Bye, Bye in Brazil“. 

We wondered if this might have been a „hidden invitation“ to visit 
Brazil again???  .............................
