Tips
Here are some tips for making some
quick and easy
to do miniatures.
Gold Tray
The gold tray above was
made from the plastic packaging of Lindt Pistachio Deluxe Chocolates (from
Switzerland). Once cut and resized they make
beautiful trays.
Glass Bowl
The glass bowl is also made from the top
packaging of Lindt Pistachio Deluxe Chocolates. Glue on a
bead for the base of the bowl and fill it up with all your yummies. I
think it can even double up as a punch
bowl. Just fill it with scenic water.
Knives
This realistic looking
knives were made from the same plastic packaging (the reverse side) as the gold
tray above. Cut desired shaped knives from the
plastic and cover the edge with paper clay or fimo. Then
paint handles with black acrylic paint.
Cake cover
Make easy cake covers by
just flipping the small plastic cheese sauce containers from Domino's Pizza.
Add a bead for handle if preferred.
Olives
To make this realistic olives for your mini salad, slice up those black plastic insulation for telephone wires.
Pencil Holder
This pencil holder was
made from the groovy Pentel brand (from Japan) paint tube caps. Wrap and
glue any left over wallpaper. Take the pointed end of a
stylus or cocktail stick and gently press against
the groove to get an interesting groovy look for your pencil
holder. You can also use up any left over
wallpaper to make stationeries such as files, magazine
holders, card boxes, paper bags. (see picture
above for some stationeries I had made). I lined the
wallpaper with a drawing sheet to make them
stiffer for folding.
Jute Rug
Make sure you hold it tight while twirling so that it
does not become loose. When the rug is almost
dry, squeeze the edges to make
into an oval shape. Sprinkle some dirt on the mat and place some
soiled shoes or boots near the mat for that "lived in
look".
Use the keychain ring part to make frame for
clocks, pewter or silver look picture frames, sun catchers,
embroidery hoops or
use it as a stove rim. For glass cover effect, glue clear acetate sheet over
picture
or printable clock face before gluing frame on.
Candy Apples
Instead of using fimo or
clay to make your candy apples, use wooden beads found in craft stores.
Insert
a toothpick and cut off the end. Paint with red acrylic and
glass paint. If you wish to make a stem, push
tiny tiny ball of clay in the center and insert a dried
twig.
Milk Cream Bath Bombs
For the pearly milk cream
bath bombs in your toiletries shop, just dismantle those cheap pearl necklaces
and glue them onto a nice dish. Make sure the holes in the
pearl are concealed by gluing them strategically
for visual display.
