Valentine's for Veterans Drive
VietNow Members and associates contributed 1,374 valentines.
They include: Candi Murray, Athena Moyer, Glenn Portwood, Nancy Napier,
Flora May Andes, Ruth E Portwood, Annetta/John Hensley, Ruth/Ricky Wakeland,
Gene/Mary Lee Melhorn, Joyce Rempe, Kathy Corn, Charles/Valerie Portwood,
Laura Wittke, and Billie/Terry Richert
The Response from schools was outstanding this year. Oak Grove Again
led the pack with the most valentines donated. Sixteen schools participated.
They Include: Oak Groove School, Holy Family School, Mt. Zion School Groups,
William Harris Grade School, Taylorville Elementary School, South Fork
District-Kincaid, Parsons Accelerated School, Michael E. Baum School,
Aregenta/Oreana Grade School, Johns Hill Magnet School, South
Shores Grade School, Washington Grade School, South East Grade
School, St. James School, Mt. Auburn 4H CLub, Muffley School.
Above totals include several youth groups at the various schools Girl
Scouts and Brownies contributed 245 valentines. The Break down of groups is:
Mt. Zion Brownie Troop 215, Mt. Zion Girl Scout Troop 125, Mt. Zion Brownie Troop 54, South Shores Girl Scout Troop 333,
Mt. Zion Brownie troop 65, Mt. Zion SADD, Mt Auburn 4H.
Several Churches, Sunday School Classes, and church groups also contributed were:
House on the Rock Church, Tabernacle Baptist Sunday School, Rebekah Circle
Grace United Methodist, Niantic United Methodist Church, Salvation Army
Sunbeams/Jr. Nursery, AWANA Girls Faith Baptist Church, 4&5 year olds
Foursquare Church, Trinity Church of Nazarine.
