Panel 2:
Zooming in on Mary jogging. She is passing some bushes, and a silhouette of a man can be seen behind them.
NO COPY
Panel 3:
The man is running behind Mary, reaching for her. She is oblivious to his existence. He wears a suit and jacket.
NO COPY
Panel 4:
The man is grabbing Mary from behind. His face is devoid of emotion. He is putting one hand over her mouth, and the other arm has her around her neck. Her eyes are wide with surprise. The earplugs for her mp3 player are being pulled from her ears in the struggle
NO COPY
Panel 5:
Mary is trying to pry the man’s arm from her neck, eyes filled with terror. The man is speaking into her ear.
MAN: Shhhhhhh. Don’t move. It will only hurt more.
Panel 6:
Close on the wrist of the arm that is around Mary’s neck. A tube is exiting from where his veins would be, snaking to the back of her head.
MAN: You’ll feel a little sting…
Panel 7:
The tube is stabbing into Mary’s neck at the base of the skull where her brainstem would be. If her face can be seen, her eyes will show pain.
MAN: There.
PAGE 2
Panel 1:
The man is letting Mary go. She is taking a drowsy step forward. The tube from his wrist is still attached to the back of her neck. She looks tired.
CAPTION: The siphon excretes a neurotoxin that will deaden your pain receptors. This helps to relieve the trauma you are feeling, and will allow a smoother transition.
Panel 2:
Mary is reaching for the siphon hanging from her neck. She still looks tired, but her face is starting to sink in to her skull.
CAPTION: The siphon will absorb your genetic information and take a neural “portrait” of your mind. This will take several minutes, and unfortunately it will destroy your brain.
Panel 3:
Mary is turning to look at the man. Her face is full of despair, and is sunken in showing dark places where the veins are. She is crying.
CAPTION: In fact, once the transfer is complete, a final excretion of powerful enzymes will begin to break down all of your body’s genetic material.
Panel 4:
Mary is falling to the ground on her hands and knees. The man standing over her-not defiantly, but staying emotionless. Her skin is melting and she is reaching for her throat.
CAPTION: Your body will be completely dissolved in ten minutes.
Panel 5:
The man is retracting the siphon into his arm. At his feet is a gooey puddle.
CAPTION: But your mind and memories and genetic information—your essence—will be with me.
PAGE 3
Panel 1:
Looking at a cluster of bushes still in
CAPTION: Not far from here is a pinhole rift undetectable by human eyes.
Panel 2:
The man has reached the bushes where the hole is, and is standing by them looking around.
NO COPY
Panel 3:
The man is holding his wrist down near the hole. His siphon is coming out moving toward the hole.
CAPTION: The rift is a portal into another dimension.
Panel 4:
A side view of the siphon entering the portal.

Panel 5:
Looking now on the other side of the portal. It’s a close up of the hole with the siphon coming out of it. The air on the other side is oddly colored, and no clouds. Nothing in the background, but coming off the panel is a tentacle as if from a squid.
CAPTION: A doorway to my world.
Panel 6:
Seeing the creature that belongs to the tentacle. It looks kind of like a squid, only with what look like bat wings, and only 4 tentacles. It is about the size of a small dog. It is taking the siphon into its mouth, or perhaps some other kind of orifice.
CAPTION: Which is now your
world as well.
PAGE 4:
Panel 1:
Large panel. Where the flying squid is in the foreground, we have taken a new angle that will allow us to look more downward to the planet’s surface, which is probably three feet down from the portal hole. We can see now that the hole is flying over some kind of pedestal. The flying squid is still receiving the siphon hose. . On the surface is an alien world. It has all kinds of wild structures on its landscape, and is absolutely teeming with alien life. There are several other of the flying squids, but then there are all kinds of aliens on the ground. All are variations of a 4 legged squid, and in all sizes and shapes. There are signs of intelligent life, but no signs of a commercial society or one that supports individuality.
CAPTION: This is the Hive. The perfect society. A highly complex caste system ensures contentment for individuals and a harmonic, species wide focus toward the betterment of the hive. The castes range from simple workers, to research, and more.
Panel 2:
The flying squid is flying away from the hole as the siphon retracts back into it. There are a couple of aliens who seem to be monitoring the pedestal that is holding the flying rift portal.
CAPTION: The research caste helps develop technology such as our interdimensional rift.
Panel 3:
The flying squid is flying toward a large cave structure that has several large, bulky squid aliens guarding it
CAPTION: The Transport caste is valuable for providing food ,materials or fuel to other working castes, or in this case the transport of your essence to the core of the Hive.
PAGE 5
Panel 1:
The flying squid is flying past the guards of the cave from page 4 panel 3. At closer observation, we can see that they are nasty looking fellows. They are 4 legged squid types, only with a kind of crab shell carapace on them, and wicked looking blades on the front arms that follow the crab shell theme.
CAPTION: You will be taken to the core. It is heavily guarded by the elite of the Warrior Caste, the royal guard.
Panel 2:
The flying squid is flying past a large room that looks like a large control room. There are thousands of aliens inside all with a monitor in front of them. Larger, ‘manager aliens’ walk the floor around the controller aliens.
CAPTION: Inside is Central command. Everything that happens in the Hive is moderated here. The Central Core is made up of the most specialized of the Castes.
Panel 3:
The flying squid is flying into a vast chamber. There are lots of warrior aliens in here. But the central focus is the queen. She looks like a giant grub worm with a fat, wormy body that is the size of a super Wal-Mart, or a strip mall. There are all kinds of aliens flying around her and crawling around her, including an alien that looks like a beefed up squid alien. About the size of an RV, this is the King.
CAPTION: You will then be taken to the Queen.
PAGE 6
Panel 1:
Close up of the queen. Seeing the ‘face’ section. She will have a alien or bug or crab, or any combination type face. Her body is crawling with aliens who seem to be standing in line to feed her.
CAPTION: Her shining brilliance is the inspiration for each member of the Hive to do its very best. She is a creature of infinite knowledge. Her glory warms the whole of the Hive. All that is in the Universe is for her. You will understand it all in time.
Panel 2:
The flying squid is approaching the queen and he is inserting his proboscis into her mouth.
CAPTION: Your essence will be fed to her…
Panel 3:
Inside the queen’s guts. There is some kind of chemical reaction going on. We can make out cell division in the middle of it all.
CAPTION: …and you will bathe in her…
Panel 4:
Still inside the queen. The cell division has become an embryonic human inside an egg looking casing.
NO COPY
Panel 5:
Still inside the queen. The embryonic human has become a toddler, still in a fetal position.
CAPTION: …breathe her in…
Panel 6:
Still inside the queen. The toddler is now a young girl. Her hair is growing to her shoulders. Still in a fetal position
NO COPY
Panel 7:
At the back of the queen, an egg is coming out of a egg laying orifice of some sort. There are squid aliens at the ready to grab the egg. Inside the egg is a teenage Mary. Hair is down past her shoulder blades, and she is still in the fetal position.
CAPTION: …and be re-born.
PAGE 7
Panel 1:
The egg with Mary in it is being carried by a couple of worker aliens to a room close to the queen’s. Mary is starting to stretch out to a standing position, the egg compensating to the change.
CAPTION: You will then undergo the Hive’s education while your new body develops. You will still be the human you were when I attacked you, but you will be better.
Panel 2:
Inside the other room. There are lots of elongated eggs like Mary’s in here. Each one containing a human inside of it. The eggs are sitting on a pedestal that keeps them upright where they can see an alien version of a monitor set hanging from the ceiling for each person to view. There are small alien devices floating around each of the eggs. An empty pedestal waits for Mary’s egg.
CAPTION: You will understand the beauty of the Queen’s existence. You will learn how to serve her. You will become stronger and faster.
Panel 3:
The aliens are positioning Mary’s egg to where she is in standing position ready to view the monitor.
CAPTION: You will learn how to defend yourself from attackers who do not understand the glory of the Queen.
Panel 4:
The monitor is coming on, and showing Mary getting ready to go jogging. Her hair is not up in the ponytail yet. The small drone robot things are using a laser of some sort to trim her hair in the egg to match the information on the screen.
CAPTION: You will learn how to infiltrate into human society, and to find information necessary to make the transition of Earth into part of the Hive as painless and simple as possible.
Panel 5:
Close on Mary’s face in the egg. There is a hint of a smirk on her face as she stares wide-eyed into the monitor.
CAPTION1: You will be a member of the Intelligence Caste.
CAPTION2: You will become a Scout.
PAGE 8
Panel 1:
In the foreground we see Wag’s hand tightly clenching a rather large high techie rifle. In the background, in the direction where Wags must be looking is the Man just pulling his siphon from the rift hole. The Man doesn’t notice Wags yet . Wags is also wearing a suit and tie, but one of obvious better quality than the Man’s suit.
NO COPY
Panel 2:
Keeping the same POV, but panning upward, with Wags still in the foreground raising the rifle to point it at the Man, who is turning to look at Wags in surprise.
WAGS: Reynolds! Nice night for a walk?
Panel 3:
The Man is looking at Wags with a smile now.
MAN: Mr. Greggor? You—are you following me?
Panel 4:
Face-on view of Wags.

WAGS: I make it a point to know everything I can about all of my employees. If they are stealing from the company, if they are corporate spies from one of my competitors…
Panel 5:
Face view of the
WAGS(OP): …if they are aliens planning on taking over the planet.
Panel 6:
The Man has activated his carapace. There is a shell on his back on his spine between his shoulder blades, and it changes. Large, thorny horns shoot up around the back of his head. A shell surrounds his torso in a pattern similar to body armor. And two long, scythe-like blades come down to his hands. All of this with a look like dungenous crab shells. The activation of the carapace shreds his suit jacket. Wags doesn’t flinch, but seems to be concentrating more on aiming his rifle.
MAN: And you came here alone to confront me? You are not as brilliant of a man as I have been told.
PAGE 9
Panel 1:
The Man leaps into the air and raises both hands to
strike. Wags is firing the rifle, a wild
particle beam, but coming up just short of hitting the
WAGS: Well, I did bring this…
Panel 2:
The Man is coming down while hacking Wags’s rifle into pieces with his blades. Wags is leaping backwards, not really phased by the event.
Panel 3
Wags is looking at the mess that was his fancy rifle. He is comically concerned.
WAGS: Right.
Panel 4
Wags is reaching under his jacket under the left breast with his right hand, and at his right hip with his left hand.

Panel 5:
Wags now has two large Combat knives. The knife in his right hand is pointed up for a slashing attack, and the knife in the left hand pointing down for a stabbing attack.

Panel 6:
Wags stepping in to slash at the Man with his right hand. The man deflects the blow and is preparing to follow through to attack Wags.

Panel 1:
Wags is just a deadly swipe from one of the Man’s blades, and is in a good position to thrust the knife in the right hand into the Man’s stomach.
Panel 2: NO COPY
Wags is now thrusting the knife in his right hand into the Man’s stomach. The Man barely seems phased. Wags smiles in victory.
WAGS: Hah!
Panel 3:
The Man has grabbed Wags by the throat. Wags’s smile now replaced by worry.

Panel 4:
The man is holding Wags in the air by one hand. Wags’s feet have left the ground, and he is using both hands to try to pull the hand off of his throat. His loose knife is falling to the ground and the one stabbed into the Man’s stomach is still there.
WAGS(weak): Er, any day, gentlemen…
Panel 5: Six heavily
armed soldiers with rifles larger than the one Wags had are de-cloaking. The two closest to him are firing on the
SOLDIER: Sorry, sir. We thought you had him.
Panel 6:
Wags standing holding his throat. He is pointing to the body, and one of the soldiers is kneeling down to it with some kind of equipment.
WAGS: Thank you for your confidence, O’Neill. Get the cerebral monitor on him, and let’s get this over with.
PAGE 11 Note: Pages 11-15 will be showing activity both with Wags’s team and with Scout. The action with Wags’s team will be at the top half of the page, and the action for Scout will be on the bottom half of the page. There will be a very prominent gutter between the two halves of the pages to better separate the action.
Panel 1:
The soldier over the body of the Man is placing a machine that is in the shape of a crown around the Man’s head. Wags and the others are watching.
NO COPY
Panel 2:
The soldier is activating the crown, and a holographic projector is emitting from the crown for all of the team to see. It is revealing a map that should resemble the alien city leading to the cave of the queen. The soldier is pointing to a structure near the cave-one that could be easily recognized.
SOLDIER: Here is the inter-dimensional research facility…
Panel 3:
The holoprojection is zooming in to the cave of the queen. The soldier crouching down by the body is pointing to the cave on the projection as the others are watching.
SOLDIER: …and in this cave we’ll find the queen.
Panel 4:
Mary inside of her egg. The monitor in front of her is showing an image of young Mary standing over a cutting board. An onion is on the board halfway cut, and a knife is laying next to it with some blood on it. Mary is clenching her left hand with her right, wincing in pain. Inside of the egg, one of the little flying drones is zapping the spot on Mary’s hand that she cut on the image. It is creating scar tissue there.
MARY
(on the monitor): Oww! Damn it!
Panel 5:
The monitor in front of Mary is now showing a scene of Mary sitting in a tattoo parlor. She and a young man, her boyfriend are getting tattoos on their left shoulders. Mary in pain again, but smiling through it. The boyfriend is giving her a peaceful smile. A drone is at the Mary in the egg zapping the spot on her left shoulder, and a tattoo is appearing there. It is a heart that says Herbert on it, as mentioned before.
MARY
(on the monitor): Nnng! Tell me why we are doing this again?
BOYFRIEND
(on the monitor): For love, baby.
PAGE 12
Panel 1:
Wags is at the rift hole. He is pointing a strange handheld device up to it pushing buttons. The six soldiers are behind him preparing their weapons for battle.
Panel 2:
The rift hole is suddenly about six feet in diameter, and glowing. The hive world beyond it is brighter. The technician aliens who monitor the rift hole don’t seem to know that the portal is opened this wide.
WAGS: Ah!
Panel 3:
Wags is waving the team in to the portal. He is talking to them as he does. The soldiers are cloaking as they move to the portal.
WAGS: Activate cloaks, men! The hologram on this rift will run out in one hour, and the squids will be on to us. I’ll destroy it at that very moment.
Panel 4:
Back to Mary in her egg. The monitor before her is showing an image of a family picture in front of a house. A mother, father, a little boy, and a little girl(Mary). All standing together, posing for the camera. Picture is taken in the early 80’s, so fashion and technology should match. In the egg, several of the little drones are zapping Mary’s head.

Panel 5:
The monitor image has changed now, and instead of the happy family, it is only the little girl(Mary), with the huge, bulbous body of the Queen standing behind her, as if posing Herself.

Back to Mary in her egg. The drones still working on her head. On the monitor before her we can see an image of her and her boyfriend, Herbert-from the tattoo parlor sitting on lounge chairs on a tropical beach. Tattoos can be visible. The couple are holding fruity drinks and wearing sunglasses. Moving together as if posing for a photograph.

Case,
Finally read #1. I've got a pretty bad cold, so I'm even dumber than normal.
I'll try not to let it show (the extra stupidity, that is).
Overall, I thought it was good. I think you have some pacing problems, though.
I would suggest shortening the initial tour of the otherworld (a tight four
pages would work better than the drawn out 8), expand the scene with Wags and
the scout. Start it off casual, build a histoy with the 2 characters, make us
invest some emotional depth in their relationship before starting the
conflict. This way we're more invested in the whole scene. Right now it reads
too convenient. I have to say that overall, the lack of emotional investment by
the reader is the scripts biggest weakness. I did not feel any emotion for
anyone. Everything read too matter-of-fact.
As written, Wags is not a very impressive character. He misses all of his first
3 to 5 shots (for the entire script), has to be rescued by his men because of
his apparent bad planning, and then he dosn't even lead the mission--- just
hangs behind. Like I said, he is not a very impressive figure.
The attack squad is also not very interesting. Make me care when the mission
goes south, by making me care about the players. Their mission feels willy
nilly as well. I definately get the impression they have a plan, but I never
understand exactly what it is. By not showing how severe the invasion by the
otherworlders is, this operation feels like overkill. For all I know, Mary was
the only victim. Maybe the guy Wags cornered volunteered. This falls in with
the lack of developement problem. I have to take way too much for granted.
Heck, maybe Mary is dying of cancer, and she's absorbed only because of that. A
society based on mindless obedience, does not necessitate an evil society.
I think your plot is solid. I just think you need to develope the characters
more. Make me feel sad for Mary. Make me feel threatened by the otherworlders.
Make me feel the need to cheer for Wags and his men. Who's Mary? How long has
Wags known he scout he takes down? How long has the squad been together? How
effective are they as a team? How long have the otherworlders been acquiring
scouts? Are all the scouts bad? Whay should I care that Mary has become a
scout? Why is she special? The otherworlders don't feel very threatening when
such a small team of soldiers, with no recon backup, can so easily invade and
decimate their ranks.
Hope this helps. Sorry if it took me so long.
Later,
