A Hopefully Decent Proposal
I took some pictures of the submission proposal I sent to Antarctic Press for the Meggan and Gilbert short.  This is not a proven technique for getting a proposal across, and is only a suggestion.
Business cards are easy to do, and are a pretty good way to play up your abilities while at the same time giving a small piece of cardstock to your hopeful employers with your email and phone number on it.  These were done on MS Word's Label and Envelope option.  and printed on Avery white matte BC stock.  They are pre-perfed, for your pleasure...
The printouts of the material to be submitted should be presentable.  Kinko's can get you a good deal on high quality prints of your work.  OfficeMax did these for 8 cents each.  Seven years ago when I worked for them, b/w prints were 49 cents.  Color will be more expensive, but more impressive, as well.  Note the paperclip in the top left corner.  This is the preferred method of fastening for most of the professors at OU.  The paperclip is removable, yet keeps the papers together when they need to be.  If you can, put your name, address, phone number, email address on each page.  At the very least, number them.  I did none of these for this proposal.
