News - 2005 - 2006 Wrestling Season

Registration - The registration for boys and girls in grades 1st to 6th has begun. For more information about the program contact Greg MacMurray at 609-395-1197. Application available online.

First Practice - The SBPAL wrestling season starts Monday November 14 at South Brunswick High School. Also, there will be a parents meeting on Wednesday November 16 at 6:00 p.m. SBPAL 2005-2006 Wrestling Schedule will be posted when it becomes available.

Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions

1. What days are practice sessions held? - Monday, Wednesday, Friday

2. What time does practice start and end? - 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

3. What school is practice held at? - South Brunswick High (auxilary gym).

4. Will there be a parent's meeting before the season starts? - Yes, on Wednesday November 16, 2005.

5. How much time is required when matches are held? - Matches are held during the week and go from approximately 6:30 to 8:30 P.M., depending on the number of exhibition matches held.

6. What is a singlet? - A singlet is the one piece wrestling uniform that is worn during wrestling matches and tournaments.

7. Are there any additional fees? - No additional fees, but headgear and wrestling shoes are required.

Coach Chris Belkot - A 1999 graduate of South Brunswick High School, Chris was a three time region qualifier. Chris continued to hone his wrestling skills at camps in West Point and Anapolis and gathered coaching experience at a high school in Pittsburg. In addition to attending Rutgers University, Chris can be found coaching the upper weight wrestlers at South Brunswick High.




2002-2003 - Season News

Fords Holiday Tournament - South Brunswick A finished in second place behind Piscataway at the annual tournament hosted by Fords. The host team finsihed in third place. The South Brunswick B team placed third behind first place Fords and second place Piscataway; Marlboro placed fourth.

A Team Action - The SB A-Team opened its regular season against Fords and took advantage of several Ford forfeits to win the season opener 60-41.



2001-2002 Season News

2001-2002 League Tournament Action

The SBPAL "A" team concluded its season with a second place victory at the Mid Jersey "A" League Tournament this past weekend. SB competed against eleven other teams from the central New Jersey area. This was the most successful showing in the history of the program with ten wrestlers advancing to the semi-finals, seven advancing to the final round, and two wrestlers receiving special recognition.

Champions, David Amrhein, Ryan Smith, and Kevin Wadiak, led the pack and brought home the gold. Bringing home the silver were second place finishers, Sarah Dorsay, Michael Muha, James Pagano, and Darren White. Anthony Del Piano, Brett Griffin and Jeff White added to the team's victory by placing third and taking home the bronze. Kevin Wadiak was granted the "Outstanding Season Wrestler" award while Ryan Smith was granted the "Outstanding Tournament Wrestler" award.

The "A" team had an outstanding season with a team record of ten and one. Wrestlers, Sarah Dorsay, Ryan Smith, and Kevin Wadiak had undefeated individual season records.

The "B" and "C" teams also brought home individual winners at the "B" and "C" Mid Jersey League Tournament in late February. Tom Murphy was the Champion in the heavy weight class for the "B" team while Jacob Conover was the Champion in the 85 pound weight class for the "C" team. Second place finishers for the "B" team included Fran White and Craig Cleffi. Third place finishers included Tommy Dorsay, Tyler Jaramillo, Jeff Goldhagen, and Cody Cleffi. Ryan Dorsay and Joe Robbins placed fourth. Eric Zaneski, Luke Del Piano, and Michael Ungano placed third for the "C" team.
