In 2000, Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve, was on every news magazine coverpages. Some people claimed that the name of the next US president didn't matter much as long as Greenspan was in charge of the US economy. Whatever his superpowers were supposed to be, by mid-2001, it seemed that they started to fade away.
