After the sept11 events, people in the United States wanted to show strong support to their governement. When the country is at war, should the Bin Laden video be broadcasted? Can the President be criticized? (a journalist was fired after questioning Bush's ability to handle the crisis). Can we make jokes about the administration or cartoons making fun of the administration or of the patriotic feeling? ( Aaron McGruder, the author of the pretty radical " The Boondocks" comic strip had his strip removed from some newspapers but became a star in lots of others). The voice of the dissent actually appeared in many newspapers, but their authors didn't choose the easy way.
