"Actually, he was really good," said the "American Dreams" actress, who co-stars with Diesel in the upcoming "The Pacifier." "He played exactly what you would think and he's really hilarious. I think a lot of people will like it because he's dealing out of his norm, he's dealing with babies and a hormonal teenager who tries to kick his butt. It's really funny.""

How Dame Judi Dench really feels about Vin Diesel:
(As reported by The Sunday Herald.com)
"It may seem incongruous – the Hollywood hardman and the theatrical dame. But when I casually dismiss Diesel as a beefcake, Dench immediately retorts: “Well he’s a pretty dishy beefcake. And he’s an absolutely charming person – funny, with a real sense of humour. It was very exciting to work with him. "“Vin doesn’t take himself too seriously,” she adds. “That’s the best bit. When you take the job seriously and yourself not too seriously, it’s an irresistible mixture. It’s a lack of sense of humour that I’d be worried about.”"

TCOR: Escape from Butcher Bay Review by totalvideogames.com
"As fans of the movie will know, Vin Diesel stars as the games enigmatic anti-hero, Richard B. Riddick, who as a hardened criminal grants the main character a level of style and aplomb never usually witnessed in videogames; we’re not massive Vin Diesel fans, however what he brings to the main character just cannot be understated, it is quite honestly as revelation in the videogames sector."

Another update on the TCOR dvd release by Miami Herald.com
"A less successful summer movie, The Chronicles of Riddick, will be available Nov. 16 in three separate versions: Full-frame and widescreen editions of the theatrical cut, plus an R-rated ''director's cut'' featuring seven extra minutes, for Vin Diesel fans and masochists only."

August 12, 2004
Empire Online Reports:
"It was dark, decidedly clammy and teetering on the edge of a downpour in Leicester Square (sharing some characteristics of the film’s setting), but that didn’t stop hordes of fans from gathering outside the Vue cinema to get a glimpse (and the chance to scream meaninglessly) at The Man With the Deepest Voice in Movies™. Charming chap that he is, Mr Diesel didn’t disappoint, and the feeling was mutual."

Empire Online Reports:
"...if the makers have their way, even that won't be the end for Riddick. No, Vin Diesel and David Twohy have their eyes on a trilogy of Riddick pictures, developing the mythology around the character..."

IGN.com Reports: "The Chronicles of Riddick - 11/16/2004" Thats right folks the long awaited dvd is coming out in November. And word on the street says that there will be not one but two different dvd releases. A regular and a "special edition" dvd will hit the stands on the 16th. Rated and Unrated???

JAMES ST. JAMES DECLARES VIN STRAIGHT!!!

Who is James St. James?
Well the "Washington Blade" tells us that he is the author who "wrote the book “Disco Bloodbath” about gay club kid killer MICHAEL ALIG."
Why is he an expert on Vin?
"St. James knew Diesel when he was a bouncer at the Tunnel, a famed New York nightclub. “I hear the gay rumors too; he does look the part,” St. James told Musto. But, he added, “Vin was always straight. And believably so. He would sing show tunes and flirt outrageously with me and the other drag queens, but he wasn’t overcompensating — he was totally comfortable with his heterosexuality.”"
Thanks for the confirmation James, but we knew all along ;)

Ferrago.com reports that there is some dispute as to whether or not TCOR: Escape from Butcher Bay will actually be making into my PS2 system. (It better not I finally got off my butt and bought xbox mostly because of this game) Anyway Vivendi Universal basically says that if they tried to put the first person shooter on PS2 it would look sucky. Vinny D says that he doesn't understand why it wasn't out on all systems to begin with. Personally I think everyone is taking his with Comingsoon.net a little bit to seriously. (For the interview seem news archives). I'd much rather they work on decreasing the load times for the xbox and pc versions.

Very interesting article with "yU +co" who did most or all of the design work for the TCOR logos and titles. Vin Diesel Up for Lex Luthor in Superman????
Rumors are starting to fly again!!
"Warner Bros. has obviously decided they want to make their megabudget Supes movie cool for "the kids", and with Moritz's involvement comes the desire to place Vin Diesel in the role of criminal mastermind Lex Luthor (a role previously linked to everyone from Kevin Spacey to Johnny Depp). With the Chronicles of Riddick franchise turning out to not actually be one (hey, I liked it), getting into another high-profile gig with a built-in recognition factor may not be such a bad idea for the Vin-man."

June 17, 2004
Heroic Diesel
"Much better than you might expect: David Twohy's The Chronicles of Riddick , which recycles the Vin Diesel antihero from Twohy's Pitch Black as an unlikely player in a struggle that determines the fate of an entire galaxy...Yes, it's derivative (beyond the aforementioned templates, you'll find some Matrix here, some Conan there), and anything this huge is going to be clunky and awkward now and then. Nonetheless, it hangs together, and its sweeping scale and ceaseless action arrive at a climax that can only be described as breathtaking. A rare sci-fi epic that genuinely deserves a sequel."

Many people have been "peeved" about TCOR's earnings this past weekend. Well check this out:
"Focusing on "Riddick's" opening in second place to $24.3 million, Universal distribution president Nikki Rocco told me, "When you target a specific quadrant of the moviegoing audience you have to manage your expectations because you're not broad appeal and you have to make sure you counter program against something that's not going after the same audience, which is what we did with 'Riddick.'"

About.com has another Interview with the cast of Riddick.
"Interviews From the World Premiere
"Pitch Black" collaborators Vin Diesel and David Twohy reunite for "The Chronicles of Riddick," a quasi-sequel to "Pitch Black" that finds Diesel's character, Riddick, battling the Necromongers in a world that's greatly expanded from the confines of "Pitch Black." Only a couple of characters make the transition from "Pitch Black" to this $120 million-plus supercharged action film. Among the newcomers is Thandie Newton ("ER" and "The Truth About Charlie") who plays the devious Dame Vaako. At the World Premiere of Universal Studios' "The Chronicles of Riddick," I had the chance to talk to Diesel, Twohy, and very briefly to the lovely Newton about the world of "The Chronicles of Riddick:""

"Vin Diesel, the shaved-head muscleman, returns to the big screen Friday in ``The Chronicles of Riddick,'' a follow-up to ``Pitch Black,'' the low-budget 2000 sci-fi film that made him a star. As the sequel turns, so will Diesel's career. " Full article courtesy of the Bostonherald.com

"Stating the obvious, Vin Diesel needs a hit. You obviously agree with me as you have collectively selected him as such in a recent BOP poll. While I maintain Will Smith is in slightly more dire straits, there is no disputing the fact that it's put up or shut up time for the Iron Giant."
How could you post this? you ask? Well check out the full story Here

"There is nothing like a dame. Especially when her name is Judi Dench. Dame Judi (she was accorded an Order of the British Empire in 1970 and made a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1988) swept into the U.S. capital the other night with all the grace, aplomb and presence of a royal yacht - and ribald wit enough to fill a dozen Shakespeare comedies." TCOR PREMIER PHOTOS!!!!! AND MUCH MUCH MORE

"Stars and fans alike were at Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday for the premiere of Vin Diesel's new sci-fi adventure flick, "The Chronicles of Riddick. Vin told us he was thrilled to work with Oscar-winner Dame Judi Dench, but revealed that what really has him pumped up isn't on the big screen -- it's on the toy shelf. "Boys and their dolls," he mused, looking at an action figure of himself as Riddick. "My head looks like it got stuck in a vise." "Riddick" hits theaters June 11th."" Full story Here

"The Battle for your Living Room"
"But, hey, now the video-game industry can claim Vin Diesel, who showed up Thursday to promote the tie-in game to his upcoming "The Chronicles of Riddick" movie. A few hundred gawkers and autograph seekers of both genders tied up foot traffic as the action star, wearing sunglasses, struck poses for digital and cell-phone cameras as his handler tugged down the back of Diesel's T-shirt to cover his exposed underwear.
"Here you've got a star to promote a game that has a very cinematic feel to it, but you are playing, you are Vin Diesel," investment adviser Ross Gerber said. "I definitely think this is the future of entertainment.""

Some movie reviews aren't worth the time it took to write them. Like this one from The Contracostatimes.com. Apparently Vin Diesel only looked like an action star for "one minute." “AS Hollywood action films are increasingly spun off into video games, game developers are facing more pressure to squeeze greater realism into their computer-generated characters and environments. Maintaining the illusion of reality is crucial in the transformation from movie screen to video screen, developers say. And while improvements in microprocessors and graphics chips have helped advance game imagery over the years, the more significant breakthrough has been in software, said Peter Wanat, executive producer of the coming video game The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, for Vivendi Universal Games.”
Reports the New York Times

“Variety reports that producer Bob Yari is moving ahead on a few interesting projects, including a potential one for Vin Diesel. The trade says that Yari is working on Find Me Guilty, which is the true story of a Mafia man asked to rat on the mob who defends himself in court and wins. Sidney Lumet is attached to direct film, with Vin Diesel in talks to star for Bob Yari Productions. The movie is expected to shoot in October.”

TCOR: Escape from Butcher Bay Review
"It's fun to be a hero, but sometimes it's even more fun -- or at least a different kind of fun -- to be an anti-hero. Sometimes, you just want to paint it black, as the saying goes... and while you're at it, you might as well go Pitch Black." More info and stills Here

Basicly saying that there isn't very much difference between creating a movie and creating a video game.

"As Times Change So Do Our Screen Champions" I couldn't have said it better myself. That being...said. Lets take a look at this quote from my very own Arizona Republic.

"Cinematic ideas of what makes a hero continue to change. When people tire of the classic figures like Achilles, they look for Everyman heroes, such as the world-weary policeman played by Benicio Del Toro in Traffic. As the cycle continues to spin, one popular stop is the antihero, who's personified this summer in The Chronicles of Riddick, the sequel to the sci-fi horror film Pitch Black. Vin Diesel stars as the title character, a physically imposing escaped con with the ability to see in the dark. Riddick is no Boy Scout, but he has his own personal code of honor, a common trait of the antihero. The type is so prevalent that even the ultimate all-American actor, John Wayne, played several such characters - in The Searchers and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance."

***Excerpt from Scott Thompson’s interview with “Canoe News

If it's put on, the eminently likeable Thompson loves playing it. The week we speak, he's been rehearsing a scene with Vin Diesel for the movie The Pacifier. "It's kind of like Uncle Buck," he says. "Vin Diesel is a navy Seal looking after some kids."

Thompson plays the director of a production of Sound of Music, which Diesel disrupts because he finds a Nazi uniform from the musical in the bedroom of the youngest child in his care and he thinks he's breaking up a neo-Nazi meeting. "It's one scene. I have a meltdown. That's my specialty."

Vin Diesel. It sounds like the name of a gay porn star. "Are you kidding? In my mind, he is a gay porn star. I've loved Vin Diesel for years. I've been completely giddy about this."

***“First, Australia gave us Nicole Kidman. Then came Naomi Watts. Now Radha Mitchell - who co-stars with Denzel Washington in the action thriller "Man on Fire" - is the latest beauty from Down Under to heat things up in Hollywood.”

“If the trailer for the forthcoming first-person shooter "The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay," looks like it belongs on the silver screen, that's OK by the game's publisher, Vivendi Universal Games.”

The premier hollywood company "Mojo LLC" has signed on to become the "producer of cinematic trailers." Case in point, the TCOR trailer. For the full article click Here

"Kids in the Hall" great Scott Thompson has joined The Pacifier with a small role as the children's school play director.

Controversy continues over the next XXX movie. Fan of Vin Diesel are squaring off against fans of Ice Cube and the internet is there battle field.

“The decision to cast Ice Cube as the star of the new XXX sequel has touched off a furor among fans of the original film and of bald-headed, gravel-voiced, muscle-flexing Vin Diesel's performance.

“The Internet has been alive with expressions of anguish over Diesel's departure from the series and the arrival of Cube.”

"Kyra," a spinoff of the 2000 film "Pitch Black," sees warrior Kyra join a band of mercenaries in a search for her mentor. Sci Fi said it is trying to close the deal with director-writer David Twohy and the film's star Vin Diesel, who will executive produce. Gary Dowell of “The Dallas Morning News” feels that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is “a stronger successor to the vacant action hero throne than the likes of Vin Diesel…” While we might not agree with that statement, it does seem entirely plausible considering the Rock’s last couple of movies have gone over better than Diesel’s. However we feel that this is only because of the Rock’s wrestling superstar background. For the full story click Here

"As a producer, I am very involved in all of the creative aspects of the game, looking for innovative gameplay, developing storylines, writing dialogue, attaching actors, designing visuals and attaching cinematics," Diesel said. "I also have been very fortunate in that I have the ability to get other incredible artists from the film and music worlds to lend their voices, talent and excitement to these games."

"A script is being written by Chris Morgan (CELLULAR) which would move Dominic from living an outlaw lifestyle in Mexico to the neon soaked streets of Tokyo to help out an old buddy in trouble with Japanese gangsters. While the character of Brian O'Connor was back in the second film, Walker's character isn't being included in the current storyline for FURIOUS 3.
Diesel hasn't signed a contract so his involvement is still up in the air. He's expressed his interest in possibly coming back, which lead to Morgan landing the assignment of writing the script, but Diesel wants to read the finished script first before deciding on doing the film or not."

A story published January 29th in the National Enquirer reads:
In the LA wind on his motorcycle, Vin Diesel came to the rescue of a guy facing vehicular assault by his girlfriend -- who'd just caught him with another woman. The furious babe had Mr. Cheat pinned between her car and a parked vehicle -- and kept inching forward slowly, crushing his legs. When Vin heard the guy howling, he jumped off his bike and roared: "Back off, b----! Right now!" The woman finally backed up -- and her victim dropped to the ground in agony. Vin called an ambulance for the man, who had a broken leg, and tried to make him comfortable -- while the girlfriend, now crying hysterically, begged for forgiveness!
talk about psycho!!
Just something interesting I stumbled accross at www.joblo.com: It seems like people can't resist making the Vin Diesel/Arnold Schwarzenegger comparison. When promoting XXX, Sony execs said that film will turn Vin Diesel into a Scwarzengger like icon. Then when T3 was still in the early casting stages, rumors were that Diesel would be starring alongside Arnold in that film. Now we know that fell through but here comes another Vin/Arnold story to wet your big, hulking men thirst. The rumor du jour is that Diesel will star as Arnold's son, Kon, in the upcoming sequel KING CONAN: CROWN OF IRON. The film's executive-producer told Entertainment Weekly that Diesel is indeed on of the candidates but not the only candidate.
"American Dreams" star Brittany Snow is set to make her film debut opposite Vin Diesel in "The Pacifier," Variety reports. The family-oriented action film has Diesel playing an undercover agent who messes up a job protecting a scientist, and tries to redeem himself by protecting the man's children. Snow will play the teenage daughter of the family he is watching over. **supplied by Jam! Showbiz
Really old yet really cool transcript Courtesy of SciFi.com about the original Pitch Black in which Vinny actually mentions Pacifier
"The question of whether action star Vin Diesel can do comedy is getting closer to being answered. FilmJerk.com has learned that filming on Walt Disney Pictures’ “Pacifier,” which he will star in, is scheduled to begin April 10 in Toronto, with casting now underway for four of the five children he will protect in the film. Will his first comedy establish him as the Sylvester Stallone of the current generation or an actor capable of making the transition?" Courtesy of Filmjerk.com
Riddick @romanticmovies.com Although this article is somewhat old it gives a little more depth to the movie.
* -- It has been recently announced that Vin will have the title roll in "Hannibal" due to start filming in 2005. (Not to be confused with Hanibal, part of the Silence of the Lambs Trilogy.) This film is about the General Hannibal and the History of Carthage. Vin recently inquired about purchasing the movie rights to the book "Hannibal" penned by author Ross Leckie.
Quote (Ross Leckie):
"He's a big, Arnold Scwarzenegger-type of man. Not as tall as me but much broader," he says. "When we met, he came into this palatial suite in a New York hotel, stood in the doorway, pointed at me and said: 'Hey, it's the great Ross Leckie'. I replied: 'Hey, it's the great Vin Diesel'. But he then said: "Shut up, you don't know who the fuck I am". That was a great ice-breaker."

"He then asked what I thought of his films. By this time I had done some research and watched a couple. Frankly, I said, they are a little thin. You could have heard the proverbial pin drop - everything went silent - until Vin leapt up, slapped me on the shoulder, and said: "You know, you're right and now I want to make a great movie'."

* -- Supposedly there will be a Riddick video game. We'll see if this actually happens, especially considering there was also supposed to be a Fast and Furious game long ago.
* -- Vin is set to start filming The Fast and The Furious part 3. Although after disputes regarding 2F2F Paul Walker is said to have only a minor roll, if any.
* -- Vin to start filming Pacifier sometime in April. Its a Disney film so who knows how it wil turn out.
He enters the role of a Nacy Seal screw up that gets assigned to protect a family which includes about 5 kids and a special scientific secret. Hmmm...
* -- Vin to star in new Spike Lee film??
Special thanks to Ain't It Cool News for the scoop.
* -- Vin sued for $8 million after his dog bit a friend in the "junk".
* -- Vin signed on to star in Pacifier. Rumored to be a Vin version of Arnie's Kindergarten Cop.
* -- Dreadnaught pushed back indefinitely.
* -- Vin's ET Interview about "Riddick." Due out June, 2004.
* -- According to http://www.joblo.com, the trailer for Riddick ("The Chronicles of" has now been dropped) will show before The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King.
*it was not shown when I went to see the movie on 12/19/03*
* -- Vin Diesel recently finished filming "The Chronicles of Riddick" due for release June 11, 2004
* -- He will begin working on the film "Dreadnaught" sometime soon *not going to happen, and probably a good thing*
