KEY SCRIPTURES:
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he
who HUMBLES will be exalted
(Luke 18:14)
HUMBLE YOURSELVES, therefore, under God's
mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.
(1 Peter 5:6)

A.
How do we humble ourselves before God?
If we want
to be humble before God, we must always possess these various attitues:
 |
Acknowledge with our lips our total dependence
on God before man |
 |
Submit to his Word; |
 |
Turn to Him in praying and fasting; |
 |
Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit; |
 |
Give Him all the glory for all He has done. |
B.
Acknowledging with our lips our total dependence of God before man
1.
Declaring our dependence on God with our mouth
God's word
says that "With the heart one believes unto righteousness,
and with the mouth CONFESSION is made unto salvation" (Romans
10:10).
The salvation of God includes eternal life, healing,
power, protection, honor, exaltation, guidance, deliverance,
revelation, etc.
Thus if we believe in our heart that we are
totally dependant on God and acknowledge it with out mouth
before man, we will be saved (we will be exalted and honored by God).
Thus God will know that you are humble only when you believe
in your heart that you are truly dependent on Him and you likewise
confess your belief with your mouth.
2.
How to declare your dependence on God before man
Begin to
say to others:
"Without God, I can do nothing.
I need him - his wisdom, his power, his compassion, his protection,
his guidance, in every area of my life.
I am totally dependent on Him for every blessing in life."
"My family is totally dependent on God.
We trust in God, that He will provide for us financially and
spiritually, and that He will provide for the children's future.
Without Him, we can do nothing."
"My business is totally dependent on God for its
success.
Without God, we will not grow or prosper.
God is the Senior Manger of my business.
Without his guidance and leading, it will fail."
3.
Do not keep quiet about your dependence on God
Humble
yourself before God all the time.
Do not keep quite about your need for Him before man
Keeping quiet does not mean you are humble.
A person who is quiet can have an independent spirit,
and can be very proud of all his achievements, self-righteousness and
self-sufficiency.
It is a person's heart attitude of dependence on God or independence
from God that determines whether he is humble or proud, and not
whether he speaks or not.
Instead, God commands us to testify of His goodness
and not remain silent when he has done a miracle in our life or
through our life.
This is what Jesus told the Garasene demoniac after the Lord healed
him and set him free from a multitude of demons:
"Return home and tell how much God has done
for you."
(Luke 8:39)
That is why the Psalmist also encourages us in God's
word:
"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so."
(Psalm 107:2)
Tell others how God has redeemed you, saved you and
blessed you.
Tell others how you are dependent everyday on his goodness and love.
4.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue
As
children of God, we can change all circumstances around us by the
words we speak.
With out tongue, we can speak either life or death,
health or sickness, wealth or poverty, success or failure,
righteousness or wickedness, into our lives, families, church,
relationships, government, nation, and the whole earth.
The tongue has the power of life and death.
(Proverbs 18:21)
5.
God's power begin to flow to help us as we confess our dependence on
Him
As we
begin to declare and confess our dependence on God before others,
God's power and help will begin to flow to help us and give us the
victory in every situation.
FOR EXAMPLE, as the prophet of Judah under King
Jehoshaphat began to declare their trust in the love of God, the LORD
set up ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who
were invading Judah, and they were defeated.
After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat
appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor
of his holiness as they when out at the head of the army, saying:
"Give thanks to the LORD,
for His love endures forever."
As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set
ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were
invading Judah, and they were defeated.
The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men
from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished
slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
(2 Chronicles 20:21-23)
6.
God sends his angles to help when we agree with his word that he will
deliver us and help us
God's
angels are all around us, and they are more of them than the demonic
forces around us (2 Kings 6:15-17).
These angles are "ministering spirits sent to serve those who
will inherit salvation" (Hebrew 1:14).
However, the angels of God will only act to help us when we confess
our faith in the Almighty God.
They are waiting to hear from our lips our dependence on God before
they will arise to deliver us.
They want to hear us agree with the Word of God.
Bless the LORD, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, that do his word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
(Psalm 103:20)
FOR EXAMPLE, when King Sennacherib of Assyria threatened
to destroy the city of Jerusalem, King Hezekiah of Judah cried out to
the LORD, who then sent a message to the king through the prophet
Isaiah, saying:
"I will defend this city and save it,
for my sake and for the sake of David my
servant."
(2 Kings 19:34)
Even as the king believed the message (he would have
accepted it from the prophet), God delivered the king and the city.
That night the angel of the LORD went out and put
to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian
camp. When the people got up the next morning - there were all dead
bodies.
(2 Kings 19:35)
7.
Do not waver in your confession, in what you say, and the blessings of
God will manifest in your lives
Jesus is
presently seated at the right hand of God praying for you and me (Romans
8:34; Hebrews 7:25).
He is acting as our High Priest in bringing our needs
before the Father.
However, Jesus can only intercede for us as a High Priest if me
confess our belief in God and God's power to deliver and help us.
If our confession change to pride or doubt and we do
not declare that we need God or that God will not be able to help us,
then Jesus will not intercede us.
He is the High Priest of our confession of faith.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were
called when you made your GOOD CONFESSION.
In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Jesus
Christ, who while testifying before Pontius Pilat made the GOOD
CONFESSION.
(1 Timothy 6:12-13)
Consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of
our CONFESSION.
(Hebrews 3:1)
Since then we have a great High Priest who has
passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast
our CONFESSION.
(Hebrews 4:14)
And since we have a great priest over the house
of God, ...... let us hold fast the CONFESSION of our hope without
wavering.
(Hebrews 10:21,23)

Your thought
-
Have you constantly and daily acknowledged your
dependence upon God man? If you have not done it, why not?
-
Do you know when the angels of God around you will
bring the help of God into your life? Discuss.
-
Do you know what Jesus Christ is doing now at the
right hand of God the Father? How is Jesus' present ministry
related to our daily life?
